Cinda Goodale
Cinda Goodale

Cinda Goodale is the champion of the $250 Ladies Event, defeating a field of 67 entries to claim the trophy. By way of a heads-up deal with Sandy Matza, Goodale also collected $3,516 in cash, plus a $1,050 seat for the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Finale satellite.

The champ is a real estate investor from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She learned poker in 2004 when this property opened close to home, and she’s having some good success so far as a part-time player.

Goodale entered the final table as one of the shorter stacks before finding her stride down the stretch. “I was fighting the whole day until we got to the final table,” she said. “Then I finally went on a run.” Her late momentum propelled her past some of the more skilled players in the game, including Abbey Daniels (4th place) and Natasha Barbour (3rd).

While there were serious prizes on the line, the ladies seemed to remember that poker is still a game. Drinks were flowing for much of the evening, and there was no shortage of laughter, even as things started to get more serious toward the money bubble. Even the dealers were occasionally cracking jokes. It felt, at times, as much like a home game as a trophy event.

“Oh, we had a lot of fun,” Goodale said after her win. “We had a lot of fun. Crack up, have a good time, play our game.”
