Level 9: 500/1,000 with a 1,000 ante
Entries: 160

Registration has closed on the Seniors Event and it was another great turnout for the tournament. We show 160 entries on the board to fall only a few short of a huge $50,000 prize pool.

They will play through Level 11 and take a 40-minute dinner break.

We will post the prize pool and payout information as soon as it is available.

Event 1 Flight C: Ryan Van Sanford and Francis Margaglione Eliminated

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 10: 500/1,500 with a 1,500 ante
Flight C Players Remaining: 126 of 421

Ryan Van Sanford

Ryan Van Sanford was down close to the felt and moved all in for his single remaining 5K chip. He picked up one caller and was ahead with Ad2d against Qh8h. But that did not last long when the Ah9h7h flop left him drawing micro-thin. The 3h turn locked up the hand and he went out late in Flight C.

And the neighboring table, SHRP regular Francis Margaglione was almost all in but his opponent had the shorter stack. The chips went in after the Ks8s3d flop and his top flopped pair KcJh was not looking good against AcAh. Tablemate Uri Kadosh was calling for a jack for his friend but the Qh turn and 4c river left Margaglione with dust and he was gone soon after.

Eli Levy

Taking a peek at the Seniors Event and they have practically filled up their side of the house. The 150 entries so far make it the biggest Seniors Event field since… last year’s Showdown Seniors Event when the buy-in was $300.

There are plenty of familiar faces in the game including Eli Levy who bagged up in Flight A of the Event 1 yesterday evening.

Their registration is set to close at 4:30pm and we will see if they can top the numbers from last year.

Flight C is playing out the clock on Level 8 which means we are ready to send them on their second break. Registration will remain open during that time but it will close once cards go back in the air.

Kevin Chan is another familiar face in the room that will not need to refire Flight C. The last time we saw Chan, he finished fourth in the WPTDeepStacks Hollywood Main Event during the Lucky Hearts Poker Open for $89,000.

Tony Dunst

We missed his brief appearance yesterday, a bullet that misfired after a max late reg, but we caught up with WPT Commentator Tony Dunst as he takes a shot in today’s field.

Dunst is here for two reasons, three if you include trying to win Event 1. In addition to his booth duties with the World Poker Tour, the WPT Champions Club member will be leading the LearnWPT Ladies Brunch tomorrow. It will be a great afternoon of food and beginner instructions from Dunst before we start the $10,000 Guarantee Ladies Event at 3pm. Also at the brunch, we are raffling off fives seats into the Ladies Event to freeroll a few forthe fun game.

The admission cost is $50 and open to the first 50 women who sign up in the poker room or at the tournament information desk in the Event Center.
