Lexy Gavin returned for Day 2 with a top five stack but not the easiest table draw in the room. She had to deal with Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Michael Laake on her left and chip leader Joe Serock one seat over.

But she’s not only holding her own, Gavin is prospering over the two hours of the day. She began the day with 264,000 but has run it up over 450,000 before taking the first break of the day.

After a long year of big tournaments across Seminole Poker properties, it’s a two-horse race to determine the 2016 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year.

David Prociak sits atop the leaderboard courtesy of a runner-up result in both the Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” Championship and the Immokalee Poker Challenge Main Event.

TK Miles is his closest competitor and the only who can catch him. Miles racked up his leaderboard points mostly due to a third place finish in WPTDeepstacks Immokalee Main Event and fifth in the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Winter Poker Open Championship.

Both returned today but David Prociak was unable to make it deep into play. That leaves the door open for Miles to steal away the POY honors with a big finish in the SHRPO Championship.

Action is underway for Day 2 of the SHRPO Championship after Tournament Director Tony Burns gave the daily instructions.

Joe Serock returns as the leader with a tough little table draw, he has Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Michael Laake on his right with Lexy Gavin and her top five stack another seat over.

They’ll continue to play 60-minute levels taking a break every two hours.

The 2016 SHRPO Championship drew 847 players yesterday and a third of them return today for another ten levels of action. There are 279 players remaining and poker pro Joe Serock leads them all. Also returning are Zo Karim, Lexy Gavin, Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Faraz Jaka, and 2015 Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” champion Jake Bazeley.

The next order of business is getting the field into the money. The last 150 players will earn a piece of the $5 million prize pool but all are aiming for the $1 million first-place prize. The money bubble should be close as they approach the dinner break and we’ll start to see who else will emerge as a contender for the title.

Play will resume at noon after chips are unbagged and everyone is settled. The Championship is scheduled to play another ten levels on Day 2 with the survivors returning tomorrow to play down to the final table.

Top ten returning stacks:

Championship players are back in their seat after a brief respite from the grind. We found the five biggest stacks in the room and the each sit with over 100,000.

Pablo Fernandez leads them all, coming back to 140,900 out front with Harold Klein sitting in second. There’s still plenty of time to catch them and a lead now is not indicator of future Championship success.

Pablo Fernandez – 140,900 (470 bb)
Harold Klein – 116,425 (388 bb)
Brandon Hall – 111,100 (370 bb)

Another quick walk through the room this afternoon was good enough to locate two former Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open champs.

Blair Hinkle won the 2013 Championship for more than $1.7 million while Dan Colman followed his big WSOP summer in 2014 with a SRHPO win one month later. Both players also hold WSOP bracelets, Hinkles from 2008 and Colman’s coming in the $1,000,000 buy-in Big One for One Drop.

Every single available table is in use at the moment, and that includes those in the smaller meeting room across the hall. A quick walk through the area found Asher Conniff, Nenad Medic, Steve Buckner, Mike Leah, and Seminole Hard Rock Poker team members Cate Hall and Stewart Newman.

They’ll keep piling in and filling seats until registration closes on the Championship at 10pm.
