Joseph Patalano got his short stack all in preflop from the big blind against Igor Evseev (button) and Frederic Konowitz (small blind). Any further betting would create a side pot.

Both players checked all the way down on a board of As10s4s10dJs, and all three revealed their cards:

Frederic Konowitz:  9s8d  (nine-high spade flush)
Igor Evseev:  9d7d  (nine high)
Joseph Patalano:  9c5s  (five-high spade flush)

Konowitz won the pot with his higher flush to eliminate Patalano in ninth place.

Frederic Konowitz  –  910,000  (36 bb)
Igor Evseev  –  270,000  (11 bb)
Joseph Patalano  –  Eliminated in 9th Place  ($920)

With eight players remaining, the average chip stack is about 685,000 (27 big blinds), and the next player to bust will receive $1,183.

Hal Klein won his first Seminole Hard Rock trophy back in 2013 in a H.O.R.S.E. event, and on Friday night he added another one, winning Event 3 ($400 H.O.R.S.E.) in a heads-up deal against Stephen Reid to win $7,268.

After the elimination of last night’s Event 2 champion David Shmuel in third place, Klein held a 4.5-to-1 chip lead over Reid, and they quickly agreed to an ICM deal. As chipleader, Klein was awarded the trophy and the title.

Klein enjoys playing all games, so H.O.R.S.E. is a great fit for him. “I like mixing it up, and I try to be proficient in all games,” said Klein. “I’ve had a lot of seconds and thirds in H.O.R.S.E., and I haven’t won a H.O.R.S.E. tournament in a year or two, so it feels great.”

But in this event, one game in particular was the key to Klein’s victory.

“I like the stud-eight and Omaha-eight, but hold’em was my game today. I crushed hold’em, and that’s how I built my stack. At one table, I won all eight hands in a round of hold’em.” Klein pointed to runner-up Reid and added, “He was there. I even raised ten-three into his jacks and flopped two pair.”

Unfortunately, Klein is going to be out of town next weekend and won’t be able to play in the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open, but he’ll be back in the future.

“It’s a great venue, and I love playing here. It was a great structure for a one-day tournament.”

Final Results:

1st:  Harold Klein  –  $7,268* + LHPO Trophy
2nd:  Stephen Reid  –  $5,627*
3rd:  David Shmuel  –  $3,440

5th:  Benjamin Matthews  –  $1,735
6th:  Cory Zeidman  –  $1,315
7th:  Adam Zeltser  –  $1,050

In the final minutes of the night, Edwards Muñiz and Qasem Jamhour got involved in another big pot with chipleading implications.

Muñiz raised under the gun to 7,000, Jamhour reraised UTG+1 to 17,000, and Muñiz four-bet it to 47,000. Jamhour called.

The flop came KhJd4d, Muñiz bet 36,000, Jamhour raised to about 100,000, and Muñiz thought for a bit before he moved all in for 162,000.

Jamhour snap-called with JsJd for a set of jacks, but Muñiz turned over KsKc for a set of kings. Muniz was poised to double up into the chip lead unless the case jack appeared.

The turn card was the As, the river card was the 3s, and the set of kings held up for Muñiz to win the pot and double up to 412K, taking the chip lead.

Edwards Muñiz  –  412,000  (137 bb)
Qasem Jamhour  –  207,000  (69 bb)

Edwards Muñiz raised from the hijack to 7,000, chipleader Qasem Jamhour reraised from the cutoff to 18,000, and Muñiz moved all in for 108,000.

Jamhour called with 10s10h, and Muñiz turned over AdKd. Muñiz needed to improve to stay alive.

The board came Js8d5d6dJd, and Muñiz turned an ace-high flush to win the pot and double up in chips.

Even though Jamhour lost this pot, he still has a solid chip lead over the rest of today’s field.

Edwards Muñiz  –  223,500  (75 bb)
Qasem Jamhour  –  415,000  (138 bb)

With about 90 players remaining, the average chip stack is about 139,000 (46 big blinds), and this is the final level of the night.

With the board showing QcJh10h4c on the turn and about 12,500 already in the pot, Roy Rubin got it all in from UTG+1 for 59,500 with 4h4d for a set of fours. He needed to avoid a ten on the river to stay alive against the big blind’s 10d4s (two pair).

The river card was the As, and Rubin won the pot with his set to double up in chips.

Roy Rubin  –  131,500  (66 bb)

At another table, a player moved all in from middle position for about 16,000, and Nissim Vaknin called from the hijack with As9s. His opponent turned over KsQd, needing to improve to stay alive.

The board came Ad5c2s7sQc, and Vaknin won the pot with a flopped pair of aces to eliminate his opponent from Day 1B.

Nissim Vaknin  –  165,000  (83 bb)

The player on the button moved all in preflop for 10,600, and Chad Eveslage called from the big blind with Ac3c. The button turned over 9h8d, and needed to improve to stay alive.

The board came 8s4c2c9s5h — the button paired his eight on the flop and turned two pair, but Eveslage rivered a five-high straight to win the pot and eliminate his opponent from Day 1B.

Chad Eveslage  –  110,000  (55 bb)
