There are still 108 players in this final field who are battling to join those survivors.

As the blinds increase to 1,000-2,000 with a 200 ante, here is a look at the chipleaders and a couple of notables who are still in the field:

Event 6: 225 Left at the 2nd Break for the Final Flight

Flight I of Event 6 was the largest starting field yet, with 679 entrants. After two breaks, the field has whittled down to about 225 players, for an average chip stack around 30,000 (37 big blinds).

There have been 319 survivors so far from the other eight starting flights, and there will probably be about 70 or so to make it thru from this flight.

So we expect nearly 400 survivors to reach Day 2, and the final 216 will finish in the money.

Day 1H of Event 6 began at 3:00 pm with 525 players, which was the largest field so far until the 7:00 pm Day 1I crushed it with (unofficially) 679 players.

After the third and final break, there are 77 players remaining in the Day 1H field, with an average chip stack around 68,000 (34 big blinds).

Here are the chip counts for a couple of notables in the field:

2.  Justin Zaki  –  64,000  (32 bb)
3.  Daniel Buzgon  –  57,000  (28 bb)

And a little praise for the casino’s tableside service here in the tournament room:

Event 6, Day 1I: About 679 Entrants (3,617 Total)

After four levels of play, registration is now closed for Day 1I of Event 6 ($125 No-Limit Hold’em w/ $150K Guarantee).

Unofficially, there are 679 players in the field, which would create a total field size of 3,617 and a prizepool of $361,700. Those numbers are unofficial until the casino cage verifies all the numbers and releases the official prizepool information.

With the blinds increasing to 150-300 with a 25 ante, here is a look at the top of the leaderboard, along with some of the notables in the field, some of whom just registered and got a fresh 10K starting stack:

Event 6, Day 1H: Chipleaders w/ 162 Left

The field for Day 1H of Event 6 ($125 No-Limit Hold’em, $150K Guarantee) has reached their second break, and the field of 525 players has dwindled down to 162.

The average chip stack is about 32,500, and here’s a look at the top of the leaderboard, along with a couple of notables in the field:

Matt Waxman is among the chipleaders at the second break in the Day 1H field.
Matt Waxman is among the chipleaders at the second break in the Day 1H field.

1.  Bryan Green  –  101,500  (126 bb)
2.  Zvi Shiff  –  86,000  (107 bb)
T-3.  Stan Silverman  –  85,000  (106 bb)
T-3.  Matt Waxman  –  85,000  (106 bb)
5.  Steve Frantz  –  77,000  (96 bb)

Justin Zaki  –  36,000  (45 bb)
Jena Delk  –  20,000  (25 bb)
Daniel Buzgon  –  8,250  (10 bb)

Matt Waxman, a WPT champion, busted a player shortly after play resumed, which is what catapulted him up among the chipleaders.

After a flop of 10s9d4s, Waxman bet 2,100 from the small blind, the UTG player moved all in for about 18,000, and a third player folded from middle position.

Waxman called with 10c8d for a pair of tens, and his opponent turned over QsJd for an open-ended straight draw with two overcards.

The turn was the Qh, giving her a higher pair of queens, but the 10d on the river gave Waxman trip tens to win the pot and eliminate his opponent.

Tuesday Night Recap: Another Guarantee Is Smashed at the SHRPO

There was only one event in action on Tuesday in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, as it was the second starting day for Event 6 ($125 No-Limit Hold’em), with three flights starting at 11:00 am, 3:00 pm, and 7:00 pm.

This event needed to attract a field of at least 1,500 entrants to clear the $150,000 prizepool guarantee, and that number was surpassed about halfway through the day. Even if registration closed after two starting days instead of three, the prizepool would already be more than $200,000.

But there are still three more starting flights tomorrow (Wednesday) to grow the prizepool even larger.

Here is a breakdown of the starting fields for each flight:

Flight A (Mon @ 11 am):  285
Flight B (Mon @ 3 pm):  347
Flight C (Mon @ 7 pm):  397

Flight D (Tue @ 11 am):  278
Flight E (Tue @ 3 pm):  406
Flight F (Tue @ 7 pm):  376

Flight G (Wed @ 11 am):  ?
Flight H (Wed @ 3 pm):  ?
Flight I (Wed @ 7 pm):  ?

Total Field Size (so far):  2,089
Total Prizepool (so far):  $208,900

So there have been 2,089 entrants in this tournament so far, but most of them have already busted. How many survivors have made it through?

Flight A:  36
Flight B:  35
Flight C:  44

Flight D:  25
Flight E:  36
Flight F:  47

Flight G:  ?
Flight H:  ?
Flight I:  ?

Total # of Survivors to Day 2 (so far):  223

Of those 223 survivors, only 11 made it thru Day 1 with more than 200,000 in chips. Here’s the top of the leaderboard, with the blinds increasing to 1,500-3,000 and a 300 ante:

1.  Edward Gilfillan  –  305,400  (101 bb)
2.  Corey Zarnoch  –  274,800  (91 bb)
3.  Leonard Sande  –  268,000  (89 bb)
4.  Manny Julve  –  235,300  (78 bb)
5.  Nancy Birnbaum  –  229,100  (76 bb)
6.  Mark Zand  –  225,800  (75 bb)
7.  Gerardo Gonzalez  –  225,200  (75 bb)
8.  Beatris Gonzalez  –  216,600  (72 bb)
9.  Ryan Gunderson  –  212,300  (70 bb)
10.  Jeremy Costa  –  201,000  (67 bb)
11.  Michael Chwiej  –  200,800  (66 bb)

Will the field size reach 3,000? Will the prizepool reach $300,000 for a $125 buy-in tournament? And will anyone from the three starting flights on Wednesday be able to cross the 300,000 mark and catch Edward Gilfillan for the Day 1 chip lead?

Return to SHRPOlive.com on Wednesday for the answers to these and other questions.
