Hoops & Hold'Em
Big Games on the Big Screen

Players coming out to the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown won’t have to worry about missing this weekend’s NCAA basketball action.

All four Regional Finals will be broadcast on the monitors in the Ballroom which includes a big screen.

Tonight players kept an eye on Michigan State’s nail biting win over Virginia, while Kentucky outlasted Louisville in their intrastate rivalry.

The Saturday and Sunday double headers will be broadcast here, along with the Final Four and Championship Game.

Who’s your pick to win it all?

Event 1: #SHRPO

$560 Buy-In Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 10: Blinds 500/1k/100 ante
135 players remaining, 49k avg (49 bb)

As we continue our social media coverage for the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown, we’ll not only feature live updates for all 20 Main Events over 21 days, but we encourage players to use Twitter as well.

Zach “Redlocks” Kessler (Boca Raton, FL) is one of the more avid Tweeters and while he didn’t ask for it, we’ll retract an earlier report. Kessler in fact didn’t “dust off” his 100k stack, but was coolered out of Flight C.

“I don’t regret any of the hands I played,” he says with a big smile, while updating his Flight D status:

Players that tweet @SHRPO using #SHRPO will be included in our reporting. While David Diaz (Bartlett, TN) didn’t do that, we did get this Tweet that we had to make more family friendly:

david diaz ‏@david901diaz

1 out….. he had 1 f@&!ng out…… 1 out Bullet #4 tomorrow. I’m trying to complain like @Roothlus so I can ship this tourney. #shipit

Marcin Plewinski
Marcin Plewinski

Marcin Plewinski (Coconut Creek, FL) doesn’t play a lot of poker, but when he does he makes the most of his opportunities.

Plewinski is part of a 100k pot where he says he limped in with KK and saw two players move all in behind him. Plewinski snap calls and gets a double knockout against TT and AQ.

Plewinski is the chip leader with ~160k heading to the second break of the day.  We’ll get official counts after the green chips are colored-up.

Table 1
(r-l) NL Celtic, Mstr Lynch, Sajwani & Singh

“This is the nickname table,” says David “No Limit Celtic,” while producing a players card that in fact bare his nickname.

David NLC is next to Mstr Lynch, which is exactly what is printed on his card.

These two and a cast of characters are having a good time on Table 1. Hussain Sajwandi & Raminder Singh yuck it up for the camera in between hands as the group keeps an eye on the NCAA basketball games being broadcast around the Ballroom.

The field will play 14 levels before bagging and tagging at ~2:30 am.

The unofficial award for longest distanced traveled to the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, FL goes to Sarah Berry (London, England) who’s vacationing from across the pond.

“A lot of my family lives here,” says Berry with an average stack, “and when I saw the schedule, I said, ‘oh (man), I gotta play.'”

Berry is sporting an unusual piece of jewelry that’s part ring, part bracelet. “I’m calling him Barrington,” a name she makes up on the spot for the gold skeleton that’s on her wrist.

“He’s just my friend.”

Berry is one of the 263 Flight D entries, setting the total Event 1 entries at 1,099. That means players are more than half way to the $1 Million Guaranteed prize pool with Saturday’s full day of poker left for the opening event.

Morea Making Early Moves
Morea Making Early Moves

Keith Morea (Boca Raton, FL) says he doesn’t make the trip to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino here in Hollywood, FL very often, but says he couldn’t pass up the value here this weekend.

“This is great,” says Morea who love the $1 Million Guaranteed Prize Pool.

His only complaint, “I wish it was a bounty (tournament),” this after a couple of early knockouts to take his stack to 110k.

Morea says his AA beat up on AK, followed by a set of 2s to crack pocket Kings.

Morea is a software engineer and looking for his first career Hollywood cash.

There are currently 236 entries in the field with registration closing at 9:15 pm.
