Darin Thompson

After a flop of 9d8d5c, Darin Thompson bet 1,400 from the hijack, and Davy Ridout moved all in from the button for about 18,000.

Thompson tanked for a while before he called with Kc8c for a pair of eights. Ridout turned over Qs9s for a pair of nines, and needed his hand to hold to stay alive.

The turn card paired the board with the 8s, the river card was the 10h, and Thompson turned trip eights to win the pot and eliminate Ridout, who appeared momentarily stunned by his loss.

In an apologetic tone, Thompson said, “I put you on a flush draw. At least I hoped you had a flush draw.”
