Mike Sexton

Mike Sexton needed to do some work at the start of Day 2 and is moving in the right direction.

Super High Roller third-place finisher Rainer Kempe opened to 3,400 from under the gun and Sexton moved all-in for 21,100. The rest of the table released and Sexton was ahead in a race to stay in the game.

Kempe: AdQc
Sexton: 9s9h

The Th8h7h flop took away some out from Kempe and the board completed with the 6s turn and Kd river to send Sexton the double.

Sexton is having a nice year, especially in World Poker Tour events. He’s usually seen and heard commentating on the WPT final tables but the Poker Hall of Famer had to take a few days off when he won their Montreal event followed by a final table appearance in the LAPC Main Event. Sexton is also in contention for the WPT Player of the Year race, currently sitting in third place with a chance to jump up.

Mike Sexton – 46,400 (29 bb)
Rainer Kempe – 53,000 (33 bb)
