An unknown player open-shoved from middle position for 77,000. Nicholas Nieto called from late position and Mark Nahama shoved the button for about 265,000. The blinds folded and action wason back on Nieto. He called and had the opportunity to score a double knockout.
Nahama: Nieto: Unknown player:
Runout:
Nahama’s kings held and he doubled through Nieto, busted the unknown player and jumped toward the top of the counts.
He’s more than three hours late, but start-of-day chip leader Michael Ortiz is in his seat and back in action to start Level 20. He was delayed with some minor health issues, but all is well after a quick doctor’s visit.
After beginning the day with over 500,000, he’s blinded down to 299,000 and holds 29 big blinds — better than average stack.
With the field narrowing fast, it appears to Michael Harley who tops the counts. Harley began the day with over 300,000 and has turned that impressive stack into better than 700,000 over the course of the first few levels. Joining him toward the top of the counts is Jorge Rivera with a stack of 560,000.
Following eight rounds of hand-for-hand play, a few doubles ups and a triple up, the bubble finally burst.
There was a raise in middle position and two callers. Action was on Dejan Petkovic — who began the day second in the counts — and he shoved for 146,000. Mark Dube folded the small blind sending it to Nicholas Nieto in the big blind. Nieto re-shoved for about 260,000 and the remaining players in the hand folded. Petkovic was at risk, but held the edge in the hand.
Petkovic: Nieto:
The flop wasn’t what Petkovic hoped for as it gave Nieto the nut flush draw. That flush came through when the turn fell the . The river was the .
“Does he have a flush?” Petkovic asked in disbelief.
Indeed, Nieto improved to an unlikely flush and Petkovic was left bust after beginning the day second in the counts. He hit the rail 51st sending the remaining 50 players into the money.
The clock reads 59 players remaining and the Everglades Poker Open $350 is officially one table from the money. While Zoltan Czinkota is among the notables who busted early on Day 2, Daniel Mizrachi and Kevin Love are a couple of those still in, but nursing short stacks.
Michael Ortiz, who began the day with 100,000+ more chips than second place Dejan Petkovic, still hasn’t taken his seat for Day 2 of the $350. When he does arrive, he’ll be seated directly next to Dejan Petkovic — the player who began the day second in the counts.
As of now, it doesn’t appear anyone has taken over Ortiz’s chip advantage.
