Almog Biton

With 30 players remaining and only the top 28 finishing in the money, the AdKd of one player busted the 7x6x of a short stack. Simultaneously at a neighboring table, Almog Biton had an unknown player at risk preflop.

The all-in bet was for 38,000 and Biton had the best of it holding Ah5c against Kh2h. The runout pair both players’ low cards, and Biton’s fives were best.

With that, the 29th-place player hit the rail and the remaining 28 were in the money.

TK Miles

Players are back in their seats following the 40-minute dinner recess. The clock shows only 34 remaining and they’re all less than one table away from the money. Just the top 28 finish with a payday but all players are eying the $26,348 top prize.

Florida standout TK Miles is one of those still in. Miles has more than $3,250,000 in career earnings, but hopes to claim his first Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood win here in the $560 Fun in the Sun Main Event.

Michael Newman

South Florida’s Michael Newman has already tasted success during this year’s Fun in the Sun Poker Open. The Seminole Hard Rock regular worked through a tough, 151-entry field in trophy Event 3, a $350 Black Chip Bounty event. He couldn’t find the W, but did work his way to a four-way chop. As such, he went down in third place and scored $3,340.

Newman is hoping for another deep finish as he’s still in the running here with only four tables left.

Main Event: Big Winners Looking for a South Florida Score

Level 10: 600/1,200 with a 1,200 Ante
Entries: 210

South Florida is one of the richest poker hotspots in the world and the quality of players is accordingly high. Here in the $560, there are a handful of individuals with seven figures worth of lifetime earnings. Two of them are still around late in the registration period — former November Niner Neil Blumenfield and Brian Hastings.

Neil Blumenfield

Blumenfield claims over $3,700,000 in earnings, much of which came following his third-place finish in the 2015 World Series of Poker Main Event.

Hastings, meanwhile, claims slightly less with about $3,350,000 in earnings. That sizable tally has come over the course of 80 reported cashes including six tournament wins.

Brian Hastings

Both Blumenfield and Hastings are here at the Seminole Hard Rock and among a big, 200+ entry field in the $560. All players are slated to go on break shortly and the final prize pool and payout tally will be calculated shortly thereafter.

Ory Hen

The Fun in the Sun Poker Open began last Wednesday with a multi-flight $250 buy-in, $50,000 guarantee. The prize pool cracked that figure easily with a final tally just shy of six figures. The 465-entry field was littered with Seminole Hard Rock notables late including Ory Hen, Ido Askenazi, Raminder Singh and Scott Efron — all of whom finished in the top 10.

When the dust settled, it was Ashkenazi and Hen who were left as the finalists agreeing to a heads-up chop. Ashkenazi went down as the champ and earned the trophy, but Hen went home with $16,403 consolation prize.

Fast forward to today’s Main Event and Hen has gotten the best of his previous heads-up foe thus far. Hen is still jockeying in Level 9 while Ashkenazi has already found the rail.

The first break in the $560 buy-in Fun in the Sun Main Event wrapped just a bit ago. The clock shows 167 in the game meaning the tournament’s $75,000 guarantee is already well surpassed. Registration and re-entry are available for about two more hours and the attendance figure is expected to continue a steady upward tick between now and then.

We’ll take a look at some of the notables in the field shortly.
