2021 LHPO Event 9 Champion Dash Dudley

Event 9 of the 2021 Lucky Hearts Poker Open was a $400 Black Chip Bounty Pot-Limit Omaha (Single Re-Entry). A total of 201 entries generated a prize pool of $47,235, with an additional $20,100 set aside for bounties.

The final table featured two players that have a combined three World Series of Poker Pot-Limit Omaha bracelets and $5.3 million in tournament winnings between according to the Hendon Mob. Sure enough, they navigated their respective ways through. In the end, it was Lansing, Michigan native Dash Dudley besting Leif Force heads-up to earn the outright win for $10,945.

“I thought everyone played really well,” said Dudley afterward. “The final table was really tough. We got four-handed and it lasted I don’t know how many hours. Nobody wanted to bust and you could tell that everybody was here to win.”

The 35-year-old Dudley, who is without a doubt a PLO specialist with two WSOP bracelets won in 2019, likes what he’s seeing in the PLO scene in South Florida.

“Omaha is getting bigger down here and you can tell. The cash games are getting bigger, the tournament are getting bigger, and I think only better things are coming.”

Scott Baumstein
Scott Baumstein Wins Event 8

While there’s no award for “Poker Player of the Pandemic,” Scott Baumstein has a good argument for that title. Since live poker tournaments were slowly reintroduced at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood in late 2020, Baumstein had won three tournaments.

On Monday night, Baumstein won his fourth, the $600 Double Black Chip Bounty.

“I’ve been really, really lucky the last few months,” said Baumstein. “I’ve won three tournaments since September here, and this is the fourth one. It feels good to be on a hot streak, and I hope to win a bigger one during the series.”

Baumstein already has experience winning bigger events here, as he won the WPTDeepStacks Lucky Hearts Poker Open back in 2018 to earn $220,238.

Baumstein and runner-up Fred Goldberg were fairly close in chips when heads-up play began, but there wasn’t much talk about making a deal, because both players wanted the title and the trophy. So they continued playing.

Baumstein quickly built up a 2-to-1 chip lead, and then his 8h8d held up against Goldberg’s Kh10d on the first heads-up all-in situation to give Baumstein his fourth victory here in four months.

“I feel really focused,” said Baumstein. “I’ve been concentrating a lot more on tournaments recently, and I feel like I’m seeing things very clearly at the moment. It helps to run well.”

Event 6 Winner Carlos Rodriguez Rojas

It took two days to get down from 301 entries to a single winner, and Carlos Rodriguez Rojas outlasted them all to win his first poker trophy.

“This is my club, the Hard Rock,” said Rojas. “I always play here. And this is the first trophy that I won, and it’s from the Hard Rock.”

Like most people, Rojas hasn’t played much live poker in the past year.

“I played in Vegas a couple weeks ago,” said Rojas, “and then I played a couple of daily tournaments here at the Hard Rock. Because of the pandemic, I haven’t played that much. But I couldn’t miss this one.”

Now that he’s had his first taste of victory, expect Rojas to go for more trophies. He plans to play the rest of the Lucky Hearts Poker Open, and take his shot in the $3,500 WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open coming up this weekend.
