Tim West open-shoved from under the gun for 75,000 and Jared Jaffee called from late position. The rest of the table moved out of the way and West saw his 5s5d was in trouble against KhKd.

Ari Engel lost a big flip to exit the WPT Finale
Ari Engel lost a big flip to exit the WPT Finale

After doubling up Ben Zamani, Ari Engel was down to only six big blinds and put them in the middle against Giuseppe Pantale with 3d3c.

The eight-time WSOP Circuit winner needed to dodge Pantaleo’s AhJd but he fell behind on the KcJh9c flop. The Ts turn left Engel with two outs, neither of which came on the 5s river.

Ari Engel – Eliminated in 23rd place ($27,620)
Giuseppe Pantaleo – 1,170,000 (117 bb)

Finale Day 3: Eddy Sabat – 24th Place ($27,620)

Eddy Sabat couldn’t run up his short stack

Jared Jaffee opened to 23,000 and Noah Bronstein three-bet shoved for 127,000. Eddy Sabat called all-in for less from the cutoff and Chino Rheem seriously considered coming along. Jaffee eventually let his hand go as well and Sabat turned up 7s7d.

“Do you have sixes?” Sabat asked hopefully (his word).

Bronstein had better than sixes and his 9s9d dominated. Sabat never picked up a sweat as the board ran out KsTsTh5d8h to send him out in 24th.

Sabat began the day with only four big blinds and was able to ladder up a payout spot before running out of time.

Adam Schwartz opened to 21,000 from the button and Giuseppe Pantaleo raised to 58,000 from the small blind. Schwartz called to see the 5c4h2c flop.

Pantaleo bet out 43,000 and Schwartz moved all-in for 195,000. Pantaleo quickly called with AdAc and Schwart needed help with Ah2h. He picked up a flush draw on the 8h turn but was next out after the 8s river.

Adam Schwartz – Eliminated in 25th place ($23,865)
Giuseppe Pantaleo – 1,040,000 (104 bb)

Jon Borenstein (Teaneck, NJ)

Jon Borenstein open-shoved for 152,000 from middle position and Giuseppe Pantaleo called in the button then Ari Engel considered coming along as well from the small blind.

He eventually let his hand go and Borenstein tabled AsTs.

“Are you suited?” Borenstein asked from the other end of the table before Pantaleo flipped up AdJd.

The Qc5c3c flop brought no help to Borenstein but he added some game-saving chop outs on the 5s turn. No love for Borenstein on the Jh river and he was sent out in 26th place.

Jon Borenstein – Eliminated in 26th place ($23,865)
Giuseppe Pantaleo – 700,000 (70 bb)

Sergii Baranov and Jonathan Little were heads up and Baranov checked the 8s6d2s flop. Little led out for 22,000 and Baranov check/raised to 60,000.

Little moved all-in and Baranov went into deep thought mode. He was covered by Little and called the bet with top pair 9d8d. Little tabled JsTs for the flush draw and over cards that missed the 5c turn.

The river 3s river completed the flush and Baranov was gone early in Day 3.

Chino Rheem
2008 November Niner Chino Rheem returns as the WPT Finale Day 3 leader

The $10,000 WPT Finale is down to its last 27 players and they return today to play down to the final table six. The field made the money last night, but today they start advancing towards the really big cash.

The remaining field is packed with talent and we’re set to witness some great poker. Those 27 players have a combined $55.7 million in career earnings, a November Niner, and the reigning WPT Player of the Year. The 3/4/5 seats at Table 7, in particular, will be tough; Ari Engel with his eight WSOP Circuit rings, Anthony Zinno with three WPT titles plus a WSOP bracelet, and David Paredes less than a year removed from his WPT Borgata title.

Chino Rheem leads the field when they restart but no one is out of contention with the deep stack and continued slow-paced structure.

Players will soon un-bag their chips and kick off the Day 3 action.
