Championship Day 3: Chamas Shows The Six

$3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship
Level 23: 10,000/20,000/3,000 Ante

Rayan Chamas opened to 51,000 and it was folded to Travis Northrope who made it 120,000 to go. Chamas thought briefly and then re-raised to 220,000. Northrope made the call.

The flop came 5d4h2c and Chamas took nearly a minute before announcing that he was all in for roughly 575,000. Northrope spent several minutes in the tank, at one point muttering to himself “think we have the same hand.” He would look back at his cards several times and eventually the WPT television cameras would make their way over to the table.

That seemed to be enough for Northrope who folded. Chamas showed the 6h without revealing what his second card was.

Championship Day 3: Jaffee Cut Down

Level 23: 10,000/20,000/3,000 Ante

Jared Jaffee looked like he would be in contention for another WPT title but he came up short. He was sitting with a comfortable 787,000 at the start of the day but not much went well.

Jaffee open-shoved for 220,000 and Hans Winzeler was the only one to come along. Jaffee needed to improve his Ac5d against JsJh. The KhJd8c flop gave him even more problems but he picked up the first part of a possible runner-runner save on the Tc turn.

Jaffee couldn’t find a miracle on the river and was gone in 50th.

Championship Day 3: McKoy Wins Showdown Without Showdown

$3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship
Level 23: 10,000/20,000/3,000 Ante

We got to the table with a flop of Qc6s2s and Steven McKoy facing a bet of 65,000 from Muhamad Abdel-Rahim. McKoy made the call and the dealer put out the Kd on the turn. This time Abdel-Rahim led out for 80,000 and McKoy made the call.

The river was the 3d and Abdel-Rahim fired a third bullet, this time for 150,000. McKoy took some time, then carefully counted out the chips to make the call, and then moved them forward.

“Nice call,” said Abdel-Rahim.

Neither player wanted to show their hand and McKoy waited and then said “muck it so I don’t have to show.” Abdel-Rahim did, and McKoy followed suit, winning the nice pot without having to show his hand.

Championship Day 3: Miracle Run Over for Jaka

$3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship
Level 23: 10,000/20,000/3,000 Ante

Faraz Jaka was in the midst of writing a great comeback story but he came up short. Earlier he was down to one big blind before the bubble on Day 2 but built it back over 400,000 to safely slide into the money. Jaka had another drop to five big blinds before rebounding to bag 431,000 by the end of the night.

His final hand came when Mohsin Charania open shoved for 395,000 and Jaka had just 30,000 behind in the small blind. He called with 9h4d against Charania’s AdJd and needed help.

The Kh5h2s did nothing to improve his situation but he added an open-ended straight draw on the 3c turn. No love for the Jaka-comeback story when on the river Jc to send the popular out in 52nd.

Championship Day 3: Heimiller Hanging Around

$3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship
Level 23: 10,000/20,000/3,000 Ante

With approximately 175,000 in the pot and a flop of Kh6s5s a short-stacked Dan Heimiller moved all in facing two opponents, one of them being Joe Ebanks. The second player thought long and hard before letting his hand go and Ebanks snap-folded.

“Whew,” said a relieved Heimiller, as he continues to hang on.

Championship Day 3: Birnbaum Aced by Efron

$3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship
Level 22: 8,000/16,000/2,000 Ante

In a battle of Seminole Hard Rock Poker regulars, Nancy Birnbaum and Scott Efron went to battle with the three-time WSOP Circuit champ Birnbaum on the bad end.

She three-bet shoved for 280,000 and Efron quickly called with AdAs. Birnbaum needed a lot of help with AhQd but couldn’t find the miracle when the board ran out 9c4h3d9sJs. Birnbaum had a nice run but was eliminated while Efron continues to hover around the leaders.

Championship Day 3: Schwartz Show Cancelled

$3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship
Level 22: 8,000/16,000/2,000 Ante

After what seemed like single-person focused coverage, the Noah Schwartz coaster ride came to an end.

Most of the damage came when he was against Shawn Nguyen with the better QdQc against AdTd. Nguyen added a gutshot wheel draw on the 4d3h2h flop before hitting the Ah turn. The 6c river finished things off to knock Schwartz down to just 90,000.

He was gone soon after, much sooner than he wished.
