We caught up with Jennifer Tilly during the pre-party for the Charity Series of Poker at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open tonight, and she shared her thoughts about the event.

On playing in charity events: “I think it’s fantastic. I think what is really fantastic about poker players is that they’re incredibly generous and they do like to give back. I’ve been to a lot of charity tournaments and poker players always rebuy, rebuy, rebuy. They put it in with any two cards and create a really fun environment. This tournament has some really good prizes. Sometimes you forget that the prizes are good because you’re so into shoveling money in for the cause. I think a charity tournament is a great way to kick things off. This is a fantastic party, the hors d’oeuvre, and the drinks are really good and everyone is in a great mood. I think when people are doing things for other people, it makes them feel good too and it’s just a fun time. And Habitat For Humanity is such a good charity. I love he idea of helping people help themselves. Sometimes you forget because we’re all so fortunate that some people don’t even have the basics like a roof over their head. I was really happy to be here and doing a small part for Habitat For Humanity.”

On playing at the Seminole Hard Rock: “I love the Seminole. I was here a couple years ago. Whenever Phil and I can work it into our schedule we like to come here because it’s beautiful. Coming here, this tournament series is a great way of mixing pleasure with work. If you bust out you sit by the pool and have a margarita or pina colada. I will also be filming Poker Night in America, which is a great addition. That will be fun at the end of the tournament to play some cash games, and Poker Night in America is always a ball, it’s super fun.

CSOP: Interview with Scotty Nguyen

We caught up with Scotty Nguyen (pictured above left) during the pre-party for the Charity Series of Poker at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open tonight, and he shared his thoughts about the event.

On charity tournaments: “The main thing when you play for charity is you want to raise money for people that need it. When I decide to play something like this I can help draw in players. So there is more money in the prize pool for people that need it.”

On playing events at the Seminole Hard Rock: “It’s fun here, I like this tournament because you buy-in one time.”

On single-entry tournaments: It’s do or die baby. Bad players with money take chances, and if they don’t get there they just buy-in again. The best player wins at this tournament.”
