To celebrate the Big 4 Championship weekend and give something back to our loyal tournament grinders, we are throwing a Player Appreciation Party tonight at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino pool complex.

Doors will open at 9pm and players can access the party via Kuro along with a tournament receipt from any Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open event.

The party will run from 9pm to midnight with free drinks and food for our great players.

The flop read when Loni Harwood bet 2,100 under the gun. The cutoff raised to 5,100 and the big blind folded. Harwood called after thinking for a few moments and the two remaining players saw the delivered on the turn.

South Florida was well represented this summer in Las Vegas during the World Series of Poker with several bracelets, big scores, and a potential WSOP Player of the Year award.

No result was more enthusiastically received by fellow Floridians than Jacquelyn Scott’s first time at the WSOP payout desk. She had only played the Main Event in the past but took a shot at the Ladies Championship.

And won it all for her first WSOP tournament cash.

Scott is a regular in Seminole Hard Rock Poker events and joins fellow local Marsha Wolak as WSOP Ladies champions.

There are plenty of brilliant minds in the ballroom and champions along with them. Pratyush Buddiga has one of the more interesting stories combining the two.

Buddiga wasn’t old enough to step foot in a casino when he had his first taste of fame on a big stage. He found himself standing by himself in front of a national TV audience and using his big brain to impress on the way to winning the 2002 Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Now 13 years later, Buddiga is a successful poker player with nearly $4 million in career earnings.

We were still searching the field for big names when it was called to our attention that WSOP and WPT champ Phil Laak was all-in for just over 17,000 preflop against pro Nick Palma.

The action was complete and Laak’s out raced Palma’s on the board to get him back over starting stack.

The board read when Xuan Liu bet 3,000 on the big blind. The hijack folded and the cutoff called. The river delivered the and Xuan fired out 6,000. The cutoff raised all in and Xuan tanked for a minute before folding her cards. She was down to 15,000 after the hand.
