Event 7, Day 1C: 486 Entrants w/ Big Names in the Field

There will be six starting flights in Event 7 ($560 NLHE w/ $1 Million Guarantee), and registration is now closed for half of them.

In the two starting flights yesterday, there were 180 survivors from a combined field of 867 entrants. The Day 1C field adds another 486 entrants to that to make it 1,352 entrants and counting.

Once again, it looks like the guarantee ($1 million) will be easily met.

Once again, there are a lot of top professional players in the mix, including WPT champions Noah Schwartz, Tommy Vedes, Tony Ruberto, and Chino Rheem, along with recent WSOP bracelet winner Loni Harwood.

Other notables in the field include Zo Karim, Tim Fiorvanti, Adam “Roothlus” Levy, Brian Hawkins, Tom Nguyen, Nancy Todd, Abbey Daniels, Dana Kellstrom, Joseph Gibbons, David Jackson, Barry Hutter, Hans Winzeler, and Zachary Kessler.

Flight 1D of this event will begin at 7:00 pm this evening, and players are free to enter as many flights as they’d like, though they can only carry forward one chip stack to Day 2.

Event 7: Day 1C Begins

Welcome to the second starting day (and the third starting flight) for Event 7 ($560 No-Limit Hold’em Deep Stack w/ $1 Million Guarantee)!

There were two starting flights yesterday, with 381 entrants for Flight 1A and 485 entrants for Flight 1B, creating a temporary total of 866 entrants. There will be two more starting flights today, one at 11:00 am (already underway), and another at 7:00 pm.

Registration remains open until the end of the first break, which should be around 1:15 pm.

There were a total of 180 survivors yesterday who made it to Day 2, and the largest chip count belonged to Darren Rabinowitz (344,400). So that’s the mark to beat.

Two other events will be underway later today at 1:00 pm, including the final 18 players from Event 8 ($240 Omaha 8 or Better) playing down to a winner.

If you’re interested in playing something smaller than the $560 buy-in, then 1:00 pm is also the start time for Event 9 ($150 No-Limit Hold’em w/ Double Green Chip Bounty).

As always, we will be providing coverage of these events here in the live updates to keep you apprised of everything that’s going on during the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open.

Event 6: 6-Way Chop and Chipleader Brett Bader Wins the Trophy

Shortly after 4:00 am, the final six players agreed to a six-way chop for the trophy.

After playing for a while with seven players, L.J. Sande got it all in preflop with As10h against Ory Hen’s AhQd.

The board came 9c5c3d2s5h, and the A-Q held up for Hen to win the pot and eliminate Sande in seventh place.

L.J. Sande  –  Out in 7th Place  ($8,610)

At that point, the final six players started discussing a deal, and counted down their chip stacks. About five minutes later, they came to an agreement to chop the tournament six ways.

Event 6: Brett Bader Increases His Lead w/ 7 Left

At the final table of Event 6 ($125 NLHE w/ $150K Guarantee), they are now down to seven players.

John Mayers was eliminated in ninth place when he got it all in preflop with AsQd against chipleader Brett Bader’s 6d6s.

The board came 8d5s2sJs2h, and the pocket sixes held up for Bader to win the pot and eliminate Mayers.

Brett Bader  –  12,700,000  (141 bb)
John Mayers  –  Out in 9th Place  ($4,525)

Shortly after the elimination of Mayers, it was time for a break. According to the schedule, play was supposed to stop for the night, but since they were at the final table, the players were given the option to vote on whether or not to keep playing.

Each player was given two cards, a black one and a red one. If they wanted to keep playing, they would slide the black one face down to the dealer. If they wanted to stop, they’d pass forward the red one. When the dealer flipped over all the cards, they were all black — they voted to keep playing.

The players did take their 10-minute break, and these were the updated chip counts as the blinds increased to 50,000-100,000 with a 15,000 ante:

Seat 1.  Moe Heider  –  4,700,000  (47 bb)
Seat 3.  L.J. Sande  –  2,350,000  (23 bb)
Seat 4.  John Carl Vinsant  –  2,535,000  (25 bb)
Seat 5.  Ory Hen  –  1,275,000  (12 bb)
Seat 6.  Frederick Allenspach  –  990,000  (9 bb)
Seat 7.  Brett Bader  –  14,560,000  (145 bb)
Seat 8.  David Jackson  –  3,715,000  (37 bb)
Seat 9.  Daniel Wellborn  –  6,060,000  (60 bb)

When the players returned, it took about five minutes for another all-in situation to develop between short stack Frederick Allenspach and David Jackson.

Allenspach was all in preflop with Ah8h, but he’d need to improve to survive against Jackson’s 6d6h.

The board came Q-6-4-7-A — Jackson flopped a set of sixes, but Allenspach turned a gutshot straight draw to give him a glimmer of hope. Allenspach rivered a pair of aces, but it wasn’t enough to save him, and he was eliminated in eighth place.

David Jackson  –  4,800,000  (48 bb)
Frederick Allenspach  –  Out in 8th Place  ($6,310)

The final seven players are guaranteed at least $8,610, but they’d all prefer the first prize of $57,976. Stay tuned.

Event 6: Final Table Begins w/ Massive Lead For Brett Bader

It was relatively quiet at the final two tables of Event 6 ($125 NLHE w/ $150K Guarantee), until, in the span of about five seconds, there were separate preflop all-in situations at both tables.

At Table 1, Michael Schwiej was all in with AcKh against chipleader Brett Bader’s AhAs.

The board came 10h6c3h2sQd, and the pocket aces held up for Bader to win the pot and eliminate Schwiej in 12th place.

Brett Bader  –  12,300,000  (136 bb)
Michael Schwiej  –  Out in 12th Place  ($3,472)

Just a few seconds later, at Table 2, Debbie LaVigne was all in with Q-Q against David Jackson’s AdKs.

The board came As5d3d8c7s, and Jackson paired his ace on the flop to win the pot and eliminate LaVigne in 11th place.

David Jackson  –  5,350,000  (59 bb)
Debbie LaVigne  –  Out in 11th Place  ($3,472)

With those eliminations, the final 10 players combined to a single table to continue play.

Here were the updated chip counts at that point, with the blinds at 45,000-90,000 and a 15,000 ante.

Seat 1.  Moe Heider  –  3,680,000  (40 bb)
Seat 2.  John Mayers  –  3,375,000  (37 bb)
Seat 3.  L.J. Sande  –  1,800,000  (20 bb)
Seat 4.  John Carl Vinsant  –  2,900,000  (32 bb)

Seat 10.  Daniel Wellborn  –  2,000,000  (22 bb)

A short while later, Stuart Breakstone was eliminated in 10th place, and the official final table is now underway. The average chip stack is about 4 million in chips (44 big blinds).

Stuart Breakstone  –  Out in 10th Place  ($3,472)

Event 6: Moe Heidler Triples w/ Aces vs. Kings vs. A-K

There are now 14 players remaining in Event 6 ($125 NLHE w/ $150K Guarantee), due to a massive three-way pot.

All the chips got in preflop, and all three players turned over premium hands. Here they are, in descending order of chip counts:

Zach Carfagno:  AdKh
Brian Reinert:  KcKs
Moe Heidler:  AcAh

The board came Qc9c2h6d6c, and the pocket aces held up for Moe Heidler to win the main pot and triple up in chips. Reinert won the much smaller side pot with his pocket kings. Nobody was eliminated on the hand.

Moe Heidler  –  4,000,000  (57 bb)
Brian Reinert  –  650,000  (9 bb)
Zach Carfagno  –  415,000  (5 bb)

Carfagno was eliminated in 16th place a few minutes later, earning $2,279. Reinert followed him out the door in 15th place a few minutes after that, earning $2,713.
