The final 78 players in Event 6 ($125 NLHE w/ $150K Guarantee) return from their dinner break to begin Level 23, with increased blinds of 10,000-20,000 and a 2,000 ante. With 78 players remaining, the average chip stack is about 470,000 (235 bb).

The remaining players are guaranteed at least $832, and the final 63 are guaranteed at least $1,049. The final table is where the big money is waiting, of course.

It looks like the field in Event 6 will reach a winner tonight, although there is always the possibility of a chop. If action continues past 3 am, action may stop for the night and resume again on Friday.

Event 6: Sebastien Tejada Leads w/ 903K (150 Left)

The final 150 players return from their second break to begin Level 20 with increased blinds of 5,000-10,000 and a 1,000 ante.

The average chip stack is about 241,000 (24 big blinds), and there are a handful of players above the 600,000 mark.

1.  Sebastian Tejada  –  903,000  (90 bb)
2.  Ricardo Velasco  –  745,000  (74 bb)
3.  Daniel Wellborn  –  668,000  (66 bb)
4.  L.J. Sande  –  625,000  (62 bb)

Chipleader Sebastian Tejada gained most of his chips in a very short period before and after the break.

In one of the final hands before the break, Tejada was involved in a big three-way all-in situation that included Nancy Birnbaum on a very short stack. Tejada had shoved with 6-6, but found himself up against another player’s A-A and Birnbaum’s K-K.

But a 6 hit the flop and the board paired to give Tejada the pot with a full house, doubling him up and eliminating Birnbaum in 161st place (she earned $398).

Shortly after the break, Tejada picked up another big pot to add another 300K or so to his stack, catapulting him to the top of the leaderboard with 903,000 — a comfortable lead.

Event 6: The Bubble Bursts Before It Begins

When the field resumed play after the break in Event 6 ($125 NLHE w/ $150K Guarantee), each table played one hand, and that’s all it took to eliminate two players and burst the Money Bubble.

The remaining 216 players are all in the money, guaranteed at least $289. Though a lot of players are eyeing that top prize of $57,976.

We expect the bustouts to speed up for a little while as the short stacks make their move, and we’ll be updating the money finishers in batches.

Event 6: Chipleaders at the Money Bubble

When the players returned from break in Event 6 ($125 NLHE w/ $150K Guarantee), the blinds increased to 3,000-6,000 with a 500 ante.

As soon as play resumed, hand-for-hand play began.

We’re keeping outside the ropes so the tournament staff can run a smooth Money Bubble, but here’s a look at the three players who already have more than 500,000 in chips:

1.  L.J. Sande  –  570,000  (95 bb)
2.  John Carl Vinsant  –  550,000  (91 bb)
3.  Stuart Breakstone  –  524,000  (87 bb)

Event 6: On the Money Bubble at the Break

Two hours into Day 2 of Event 6 ($125 NLHE w/ $150K Guarantee), and the field has dropped down from 388 players to 218 — just one spot away from the Money Bubble, and two spots away from the money.

The final 216 players are guaranteed to earn at least $289.

The average chip stack is about 166,000 (27 big blinds). When the players return from break we’ll update the chipleaders and other notables in the field.

Event 6: Getting Closer to the Money

Day 2 of Event 6 ($125 No-Limit Hold’em w/ $150K Guarantee) has been underway for less than an hour, and the field has already shrunk down from 388 players down to 306. The Money Bubble shouldn’t be too far off, as the final 216 get paid.

One of the players eliminated was Bill Mullins, who came in relatively short and shoved his A-J for 12 big blinds over a raise from the hijack. Unfortunately, the hijack turned over A-A, and the best hand held up to send Mullins to the rail. The silver lining for Mullins is that he had just enough time to enter Event 7 ($560 NLHE w/ $1 Million Guarantee) before registration closed.

Nicholas Mahabee entered Day 2 ninth in chips with 227,900, but his luck has turned for the worst here in the early going.

With the board showing Qs9h8c8h, David Gelley moved all in from the button for 110,000, and Mahabee tanked for a while before calling from the big blind with Js10h. Mahabee clearly called, but his body language almost made it look like a fold — and the dealer mucked his cards. But everyone on the table saw his A-J, and saw that it was slid to the very bottom of the muck, so when a floorperson came over, it was a very easy fix.

Mahabee had a queen-high straight, and he was ahead of Gelley’s trip eights. (Gelley also had a gutshot straight draw for a chop.)

The river card double-paired the board with the 9d, giving Gelley a full house, eights full of nines, to win the pot and double up.

Gelley catapulted up among the chipleaders, while Mahabee dropped down below average.

David Gelley  –  324,500  (81 bb)
Nicholas Mahabee  –  78,000  (19 bb)
