Event 5: Wolak Out; Field Shrinks

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 18: 3,000/6,000/1,000 Ante

Marsha Wolak can't make a comeback
Marsha Wolak can’t make a comeback

It took a few minutes after the money bubble for things to pick back up. We didn’t see the standard rush to the payout desk that generally occurs after making the money but we have a steady parade now.

The latest was 2011 WSOP Ladies Champion Marsha Wolak heading for the door. She was eliminated after moving all-in with AcJs and the big blind woke up with QsQh. Wolak needed a lot of help to stay alive but the board ran Jh9d3d2cKs to crash out in 66th.

Wolak took a few months away from the poker table and the rest seems to have helped. Her first tournament back was the massive-field Event 1 where she made a deep run and now she has another multi-day cash under her belt.

Event 5: In the Money

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 17: 2,500/5,000/1,000 Ante

Kimberly Vaccaro (San Francisco, CA)
Kimberly Vaccaro (San Francisco, CA) puts the field in the money

It took only two rounds of hand-for-hand action to put the field in the money with 80 remaining. Play was paused with all-ins called on two different tables.

One cooler and one race.

The first hand run was the cooler when Jeff Rodriguez saw his bubble-time KdKc ran smack into Jason Payne’s AcAs. The board was drama-free 8c7h5c9dJd to knock out one.

The second hand was a race between Kimberly Vaccaro’s AsKc and James Ladeira’s TdTh. Vaccaro saw the Ad on the flop and never looked back to send the second players out.

Since they were eliminated on the same hand, Ladeira and Rodriguez chopped up 81st money for the $519 rebate.

Event 5: Massad Gets More; Palacio Jumps Up

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 17: 2,500/5,000/1,000 Ante

Armando Palacio (Miami, FL)
Armando Palacio (Miami, FL)

Players are back in their seats and ready to make some money.

Lola Massad moved further into the lead with 658,000 on the break. She’s followed by Lisa Teebagy with 582,000 and Armando Palacio’s 420,000. Day 2 returning chip leader Jorge Rivera lost a good part of his stack in the first three levels and went on break with 280,000.

Event 5: Massad Makes Moves

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 16: 2,000/4,000/500 Ante

Lola Massad (Charlotte, NC)
Lola Massad (Charlotte, NC)

Lola Massad probably hopes she doesn’t have to leave her seat except for a regularly schedule breather. Her table will be the last to break and that would mean she’s running deep.

Massad began the day with 211,000 and has gone higher since. She’s sitting with 400,000 as the tournament drops down to 99 players over 11 tables.

It will be a race to see which hits first, the money bubble or the first break.

Event 5: Holley Moves Up; Scott Moves Out

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 16: 2,000/4,000/500 Ante

John Holley (Destin, FL)
John Holley (Destin, FL)

Event 5 is close to dropping into the double digit area with a touch over 100 players remaining at the top of the hours. We are one WSOP Ladies Champion down today when Jacquelyn Scott was eliminated.

Scott began the day with an average stack but could not ride it to the money. The final blow came against John Holley when he called her shove with JsTs to dominate the 2015 WSOP Ladies Champion’s Tc9c. That leaves Marsha Wolak as the last WSOP Ladies Champion standing.

Holley bagged chips on Monday and decided to play the 6-Max Event 7 yesterday, and went on to win it late in the day. He continues to ride the heater to run his 66,000 returning stack up to 170,000.

Event 5: Dearly Departed

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 16: 2,000/4,000/500 Ante

Alfonso Perez (Coconut Creek, FL)

We’re still seeing a parade of quick exits as the roll into the second level of the day. Some of those set packing including Kane Kalas, Scott Zakheim, and Carolyn Zegeer.

Alfonso Perez did his part to get the field short when his 5d3s was good against Jason Kawartler’s turned straight. The hand moved Perez over 225,000 and a step closer to the money.

Event 5: Fast Pace

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 15: 1,500/3,000/500 Ante

Jeff Morzella (Tampa, FL)
Jeff Morzella (Tampa, FL)

Chips are flying in early action and staff broke the first table a few minutes into the restart. Marcus Stein picked up a few chips on the first hand while Jeff Morzella moved a step closer to the leaders.

He was already near the top of the counts when Morzella had Haim Toorgeman all-in but behind. Toorgeman came into the day with one of the short stacks but could get a little breathing room if his QsQd held against Morzella’s AsJs.

It wasn’t meant to be as Morzella flopped the nut flush draw on the 9s7d5s board and immediately hit on the 6s turn. Toorgeman was an early casualty while Morzella moved up to 290,000.
