2016-rrpo-00126

The remaining 21 players in today’s 12pm Omaha/8 tournament are on a 40-minute dinner break. Cards go back in the air just before 7:15pm and they’ll need to lose nine more players before the final 12 are in the money. We will pick up this event again once the bubble bursts and the final table nears.

Event 1 Flight D: Seay’s Kings Best Aces on a King-High Flop

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 2: 50/100
Flight D Entrants: 188

Shaundra Seay
Shaundra Seay

Shaundra Seay has doubled up early after her kings bested the aces of an unknown player on a king-high flop. Seay owned KsKh and was in good shape versus the AcAd after the dealer laid a KcJhTh flop. The pair got the last of Seay’s chips in the pot and her set held to double through the opponent.

With that, she now holds more than twice starting stack early in Level 2.

Event 1 Flight C: Last Level to Build a Bag

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 14: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 Ante

Jason Bral (Carefree, AZ)
Jason Bral (Carefree, AZ)

Flight C is in the last level of the day with more than 100 still around with a chance to put some chips in a bag. We’ll see a decent drop out rate over the next 30 minutes as short stacks try to double up or bust/re-load in Flight D.

Jason Bral is among the nice group of players we’re seeing coming to town from abroad, all looking for a chunk of the opening event money.

Event 1 Flight D: The Midway Point is Here

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50
Flight D Entrants: 103

2016-rrpo-00117

The fourth of eight starting flights in the $1,000,000 guaranteed Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open kickoff event is underway. Through the first three flights, the field stands at over 1,200 entries and tonight’s installment is expected to continue to grow the monster turnout.

Here are the details of Flight D which began just moments ago:

6PM: Event 1 Day 1D – $360 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)

  • $1,000,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool
  • Players begin with 20,000 in chips and 30-minute levels
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 9
  • Day 1 will end after Level 14 or Tournament Director discretion
  • Event 1 Structure Sheet

Play is slated to concluded some time after 1:30am. Updates throughout the event as well as end of night chip counts will be available right here at SHRPO.com.

Event 1 Flight C: Quickly Dropping

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 12: 800/1,600 with a 200 Ante
Flight C Players Remaining: 126 of 409

Kenny "SuperTuan" Nguyen (Lynwood, IL)
Kenny “SuperTuan” Nguyen (Lynwood, IL)

Once registration closed on Flight C, the field quickly lost a huge chunk of the field to leave only 126 still around at the final break. We expect to get down near 80 players remaining by the time they bag up for the night at the end of Level 14.

WSOP Circuit winner Kenny “SuperTuan” Nguyen is still around but he has some work to do to build a baggable stack. He has over $1 million in career earnings including $163,000 for a televised WPT final table during the 2009 WPT Borgata Poker Open.

Event 2: Prize Pool and Payouts Released

$300 Limit Omaha/8 (Re-Entry)
Level 10: 1,500/3,000 Limits

Registration closed on Event 2 after the second break and the tournament officially drew 92 entrants for a nice increase over the 72 from last year.

They created a prize pool worth $23,460 with a min-cash earning $481 while the first 2016 Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” champ will take home $6,603 along with the glass trophy and custom-framed winner’s photo from Image Masters.

Event 2: Harwood’s Back

$300 Limit Omaha/8 (Re-Entry)
Level 8: 800/1,600 Limits
Entrants: 86

Joel Harwood (Hallandale, FL)
Joel Harwood (Hallandale, FL)

The Omaha/8 tournament is approaching the second break of the day and registration will close when they return. They have 86 entries into the game and we expect a few more before they close the books.

Joel Harwood’s first bullet did not end well but we don’t doubt he can run the second one up to a nice score. And he has some history behind him.

Harwood, father of two-time WSOP bracelet winner Loni Harwood, has a final table appearance in the Omaha/8 tournament during four of the last five major SHRP series. The most exciting one came when he finished in third place during the 2015 SHRPO Omaha/8 event but had most of his attention online following along from afar as Loni won the WSOP National Championship at the same time.

Event 1 Flight C: Another 400

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 9: 400/800 with a 100 Ante
Flight C Entrants: 409

With a late rush in Level 8, Flight C continued the trend of loading up more than 400 entrants per flight. It’s another good number with 409 entries locked into the third flight with five more big ones to come.

They will play six more levels today, with one more break in between, and stop at the end of Level 14.

Event 1 Flight C: Last Level to Register

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 8: 300/600 with a 75 Ante
Flight C Entrants: 386

Jason Gooch (Vidor, TX)
Jason Gooch (Vidor, TX)

Level 8 is here and it’s the last chance for players to get in this flight. They’ll go on a break when the level is complete, take a 15-minute break, then return with the registration desk closed for this session.

But players still have tonight’s 6pm flight and four more this weekend.

Jason Gooch is back from his travels around the country, since September he has results from Pittsburgh to Colorado to Mississippi and back here in Florida where he had a deep run in the final event of the 2016 Coco Poker Open a few weeks ago.

Event 1 Flight C: #Ambassador Maddah

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 7: 250/500 with a 75 Ante
Flight C Entrants: 383

Wally Maddah (Palm Harbor, FL)
Wally Maddah (Palm Harbor, FL)

Players have less than one hour to make their way down to the ballroom for a piece of today’s early action. Registration will close after the second break and then we’ll have our Flight C numbers.

Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Ambassador Wally Maddah is back for another shot at a Day 2 bag and the newly-bearded pro is trying to put together a nice stack. During his last visit on this side of the state, he final table the $360 Pot Limit Omaha event during the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open.

Among his big list of results, Maddah had quite the accomplishment in the 2014 SHRPO series. He came back with a shorter stack for Day 2 in the $150 multi-day event and decided to fire up that day’s $200 Big Stack event. Not only did Maddah put his short stack in the money, he made the last two tables for a nice result in 15th place.

But that wasn’t all he was doing. Maddah still had his seat in the $200 tournament at the same time and spent his entire day playing two different tournaments. He took that stack all the way to 14th place for a pretty incredible one day, double cash.
