Matt Stout

The $1,100 Turbo was expected to be a quick affair and they are having a great time in the back of the ballroom. They wasted no time getting their chips in the middle and we had two busts in the first level.

Things are settling down as the first hour is about to come to a close. One table is especially tough with SHRP team member Matt Stout, WSOP bracelet winner, and Alexandre Caperonis  fresh off his sixth place finish in the Purple Chip Bounty event.

The flop came down Js5c4h, and Shafman bet 12,000. Bowers raised to 29,000, Shafman called, and the turn was the Jh. Shafman checked, Bowers bet 16,000, Shafman check-raised to 55,000, and Bowers called.

The river was the Qd, and both players checked.

“I’ve got nothing,” said Shafman.

Bowers didn’t flinch, though, waiting for Shafman to table his hand. Shafman eventually showed 8d7h, followed by Bowers tabling 10d5h for jacks and fives to win the pot.

David Peters

David Peters has his place booked for Day 4 of the Championship and now he looks like he might pick up a trophy tonight as a warmup. His big move began when he opened to 2,700 and called after Ray Qartomy three-bet to 10,000 from the button.

Peters checked the 9h4d2s flop and Qartomy put him all in. After a quick think, Peters called and tabled 7h7s.

“Good call,” Qartomy said when has the hand.

Qartomy flipped up AhKs and couldn’t catch the 5c turn or 2c river to send the big double to Peters. They counted down his stack and Qartomy had to give up 44,800 across the table.

David Peters – 120,000 (100 bb)
Ray Qartomy – 73,000 (61 bb)

Event 13: From the Championship to $5K, Darryll Fish and Shaun Deeb in the One-Day

$5,000 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guarantee | Structure
Level 10: 500/1,000 with a 100 ante
Entries: 56

Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Darryll Fish

Since besting the guarantee nearly two hours ago, the field in the one-day $5,000 buy-in event has grown at a modest pace. The Championship’s early finished changed that, though, as the 18 players that bagged were suddenly left with an early night. The $5,000 event, which is slated to finish up sometime after midnight, got an influx of entries including Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Darryll Fish and Shaun Deeb who are among the Championship’s final 18.

Shaun Deeb

Fish and Deeb both got in the action and helped grow the entry count to 56. They’ve had a decent start, too, as it appears both have doubled up early.
