Ashley Hines

Flight A is back underway after the third break of the day with approximately 150 players remaining and 79 advancing to Day 2. Players are dropping at a quick rate, trying to build a castle or hit Flight B at 6 pm.

“Action Ashley” Hine looks like the biggest stack in the room in the late stages with 159,000 and the Texas native is in great position to bag the Flight A lead in a couple of hours.

Safe + Sound

Thank you to everyone coming out for the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown. We appreciate you spending your time with us. Your entire tournament room and casino team are working to provide a safe and fun environment.

“Seminole Gaming is committed to the health and safety of its guests and team members, and we are upgrading our comprehensive “Safe + Sound” program to further limit the threat from COVID-19,” said Jim Allen, Seminole Gaming CEO and Chairman of Hard Rock International.  “We are making sure our resorts and casinos are safe and sound so our guests and team members have peace of mind when they return.”

In addition to the program enhancement, Seminole Gaming is expanding the COVID enforcement teams at its casinos and will outfit them in distinctive uniforms to create greater guest awareness of this important issue.  Guests will be informed of the program upgrade and required to adhere to it, or they will be asked to leave the property.

Safe and Sound Program guidelines include:

  • Temperature checks for all guests and team members prior to entry. Any guest or team member with a temperature above CDC guidelines of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit will not be allowed entry.
A requirement that all guests wear masks or cloth face coverings that meet CDC guidelines, without exception. Masks will be provided to guests as needed.
  • Alternating slot machines will be turned off to help ensure social distancing on the casino floor.
  • New Plexiglas barriers will divide players at table games and customer service areas.
  • Signs will be posted throughout the casino complex to encourage social distancing and help ensure adherence to Safe and Sound Program guidelines.
  • Team members will be part of a new “Safe and Sound Clean Team” to focus on cleaning and disinfecting surfaces throughout the casino complex, with special emphasis on high-touch surfaces and common areas.
  • Hand-sanitizing stations will be available on the casino floor, at the entrances and throughout the casino complex.

Matt Stout

Flight A is nearing 600 entries, a 50% increase from January with time to climb, and the 480 unique player cap is nearing with less than an hour to go before registration closes.

A tremendous start to the series.

Matt Stout is back in South Florida after taking a forced poker break like the rest of the world. He has $4.3 million in career earnings and made his third WPT final table here during the WPT Poker Showdown Championship in 2018, finishing fifth for a nice $190K payday.

Event 2: Yuval Bronshtein Back for More

Level 2:  100/200 Limits

Yuval Bronshtein

The Omaha 8 tournament is playing out across the hall from the Seminole Ballroom and the Salon West already has more than 100 players in the freeze-out with registration open for more than three hours.

Yuval Bronshtein is back in action and always a favorite to take home the title in these tough fields. The WSOP bracelet winner came storming out of the gates in January when he crushed the first two Lucky Hearts Poker Open tournaments. He is the defending champion of this tournament with an LHPO win and came back the next day to finish second in the $400 H.O.R.S.E. freeze-out.

Event 1 Flight A: All Together Again

Jeff Kessler

The staggered break is complete and all players rolled into Level 5 at the same time. The entry count climbed over 500 while they were gone and the field continues to grow.

Jeff Kessler and Jennifer David are two of regulars in the field today looking for more success. David booked her biggest score two years ago when she finished third out of more than 1,500 entries in the Turnpike Series.

Kessler picked up a SHRP trophy when he won the RRPO Seniors Event in 2013. His biggest cash came in this tournament during the 2019 Poker Showdown, taking home $108,780 for third place out of nearly 3,000 entries.

Event 2: First Trophy

$400 Limit Omaha 8 (Freeze-Out)
Structure
Level 1:  50/100 Limits

It wouldn’t be a Seminole Hard Rock Poker festival if we didn’t throw in plenty of games for our non-Hold’em friends and we have the first one right out of the gates today at noon. Event 1 may be the first tournament of the series but Event 2 will award the first Poker Showdown trophy.

Event 2 is a $400 buy-in Limit Omaha/8 tournament and this game drew a huge 123-player field in January. They’ll start with 12,000 stacks and run 30-minute levels throughout the day. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 4:30 pm but the Freeze-Out format means no re-entries if a player busts. They will have a dinner break at 6 pm and return to play down to our first Showdown champion.

  • Players begin with 12,000 in chips and 30-minute levels
  • Late registration until start of Level 9 (4:30pm)
  • This is a one-day tournament and plays until completion
