Another 30 minutes and another spurt of bustouts. The tournament quickly made its way down to three tables and might already be at two if not for the next break rolling around.

Joseph Ritzie continues to lead with a huge 1,145,000 stack and Gui Van sits with the biggest at 732,000. Those two are set for a deep run but they seem to be butting heads with each other despite their stacks.

Joseph Ritzie

Event 14 went into hand-for-hand shortly after returning from break and it took two hands to put them in the money. On the first, former SHRP champ Raminder Singh moved all in but found no callers.

One hand later, Joseph Ritzie and Yunier Rodriguez played a hand that went big at the end. They were two of the bigger stacks in the room and heads up in a hand with the board reading Qc9d8sKs4s when Rodriguez put Ritzie all in.

It was a quick call by Ritzie with QhQs and Rodriguez’ Ac8c was no good to the flopped set. They counted down the stacks and Ritzie’s 208,000 was slightly bigger to send Rodriguez out and put Event 14 in the money.

Joseph Ritzie – 475,000 (79 bb)
Yunier Rodriguez – Eliminated in 46th place

Event 14: First Break on the Bubble

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$50,000 Guaranteed | Payouts
Level 17: 2,500/5,000 with a 500 ante
Players Remaining: 47 of 779

Event 14 players are taking a 15-minute break while tournament staff pull the 500 denom chips out of play.

There are 47 players remaining with 45 getting paid and it almost happened during the break. There were three all-ins at two tables but each resulted in a double so we are still at 47.

They’ll return to action, lose one more player, and then go into hand-for-hand mode.

Event 14: Closing on the Bubble

Level 17: 2,500/5,000 with a 500 ante

Francis Margaglione

They are moving quickly on a Wednesday evening. More than 20 players hit the rail already to leave them one table break away from guaranteeing themselves a little mid-week money.

SHRP regular Francis has a habit of winning the last SHRPO event of the series, except he’s done it before in the last single-day tournament. That was a Deep Stack Turbo in 2015 and 2016 and Margaglione went on to win them both. He didn’t win last night’s turbo so he’ll just have to aim for this one.

Event 14: Paging Mario James

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$50,000 Guaranteed | Payouts
Level 16: 2,000/4,000 with a 500 ante
Players Remaining: 63 of 779

Not everybody took their seats in the Day 2 field. We found a seat open on Table 26 but no player. Mario James was set to return today with 50,500 but has yet to take his place in today’s restart.

His stack has been blind down to 19,500 and getting short as the field nears the money bubble.

Event 14: Past Champions

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$50,000 Guaranteed | Payouts
Blinds: 1,500/3,000 with a 500 ante
Players Remaining: 72 of 779

Cesar Fuentes

This series-ending event has been around for a few years, a nice little multi-day tournament for those missing on the Big 4 final tables.

The last two champs of this events are back for Day 2 and trying to add another trophy. Yves Fequiere picked up $17,344 from a heads up deal to win the 2015 tournament and Cesar Fuentes captured the title last year for $15,500 in a six-way deal that saw him holding a huge lead.

We’ll see if either one can add another trophy tonight.

Event 14: Wrapping Up SHRPO

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$50,000 Guaranteed | Payouts
Blinds: 1,500/3,000 with a 500 ante
Players Remaining: 75 of 779

We still have one more trophy to award before we close the books on the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open. The $150 buy-in $50,000 Guaranteed Event 14 blew the doors off the promised number to put nearly $100,000 up for grabs.

The tournament drew 779 entries and only 75 players made it through to Day 2. And those 75 still have some work to do with 45 making it into the money later this afternoon but it will be worth it when someone walks away with more than $24,000.

Tanya Kirk returns with the chip lead followed by some SHRP regulars including Al Gomez and Mike Beasley with Francis Margaglione sitting in the top ten.

They’ll restart their day at 5pm and will crown our last champion of the series before the night is through.

Top ten returning stacks:

  1. Tanya Kirk – 287,000 (96 bb)
  2. Jason Lee – 254,000 (85 bb)
  3. Francis Margaglione – 246,000 (82 bb)
  4. Jonathan Rapp – 232,500 (78 bb)
  5. Yunier Rodriguez – 224,500 (75 bb)
  6. Gui Van – 212,000 (71 bb)
  7. Adam Horowitz – 202,500 (68 bb)
  8. Nachum Lumelski – 197,500 (66 bb)
  9. David Poces – 194,500 (65 bb)
  10. Robert Leff – 184,000 (61 bb)
