We have a new player in the game and it happens to be 2nd all-time cash leader Erik Seidel. He grabbed a seat on the feature table for the next ten minutes before they flip the tables, bringing the outer table under the lights.

Seidel has earned more the $30 million in his career with eight WSOP bracelets and 99 WSOP cashes.

Most of the action seems to be flying on the feature table while the outer table is taking a more laid back approach. Other than Salman Behbehani joining them after the break, the most exciting action was a full coffee spill by Sean Winter.

He continues to lead the outer table but they are still taking it easy.

Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton

Jason Mercier was the first to be eliminated from the high roller and he was followed soon by Isaac Haxton.

Haxton was sent out after he was all-in with 9h9d with the board reading 8c6h5d2h against Stevie Chidwick’s flush draw/over card Ah5h. The river came 8h to fill the flush and Haxton was barely covered.

But the high roller didn’t wait long to fire another bullet. Haxton is now sitting at the outer table with a fresh stack and another chance.

Chance Kornuth was worried Jason Mercier would be sporting some newlywed run good today but that is not what happened.

Chance Kornuth opened to 2,200 from under the gun, Jason Koon called, and Jason Mercier three-bet to 10,900. Kornuth released his hand and Koon called to see the 8c6h6d flop. Mercier bet out 7,300 to get another call from Koon to the 4d turn.

Mercier checked, Koon bet 12,000 and Mercier pulled the check/raise all-in. Koon instantly called with his flopped boat 8s6s and Mercier was drawing dead with his flush draw AdKd.

Now we’ll wait to see if Mercier re-enters.

David Peters
David Peters

Taking a look at the outer table and we found David Peters bringing his hot streak to the ballroom. The WSOP bracelet winner moved into the top 20 on the all-time money list when he won the Aria Super High Roller a few days ago, crossing over $14 million in career earnings.

Along with Peters we have Mustapha Kanit, Guiseppe Iadisernia, Sean Winter, and Benjamin Tollerance.

As with most tournament sporting a huge buy-in and extreme talent, things take a little while to get rolling at the start. We have two tables running with one in the ballroom and one playing under the light on the Poker Night in America set.

It’s quite the initial draw on the feature table with Jason Mercier, Chance Kornuth, Jason Koon, and Isaac Haxton taking a seat at the start of the day.

We expect more players to jump in the game soon with the quick, 30-minute levels but we’re off to a good start.

The biggest buy-in tournament of the series wasn’t originally on the schedule, but the $50,000 High Roller tournament was added at the suggestion of some of the best players on the planet. Jason Mercier and Natasha Barbour held their wedding earlier this week and now his top pro friends have a venue worthy of their talent after the festivities.

There are a few of players already here for the one-day High Roller and they include Mercier himself, Chance Kornuth, Jason Koon, Isaac Haxton, and Erik Seidel.

They’ll play deep stacks with 30-minute levels and run through the entire tournament today in front of the Poker Night in America live stream cameras. If anyone wants to join in the fun, registration is open until the start of Level 11 around 6:30pm.

It will take a few minutes to get everything set up but action should be underway shortly.

  • Players begin with 100,000 in chips and 30-minute levels
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 11
  • This is a one-day tournament and plays until completion
