Event 2: Harwood’s Back

$300 Limit Omaha/8 (Re-Entry)
Level 8: 800/1,600 Limits
Entrants: 86

Joel Harwood (Hallandale, FL)
Joel Harwood (Hallandale, FL)

The Omaha/8 tournament is approaching the second break of the day and registration will close when they return. They have 86 entries into the game and we expect a few more before they close the books.

Joel Harwood’s first bullet did not end well but we don’t doubt he can run the second one up to a nice score. And he has some history behind him.

Harwood, father of two-time WSOP bracelet winner Loni Harwood, has a final table appearance in the Omaha/8 tournament during four of the last five major SHRP series. The most exciting one came when he finished in third place during the 2015 SHRPO Omaha/8 event but had most of his attention online following along from afar as Loni won the WSOP National Championship at the same time.

Event 1 Flight C: Another 400

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 9: 400/800 with a 100 Ante
Flight C Entrants: 409

With a late rush in Level 8, Flight C continued the trend of loading up more than 400 entrants per flight. It’s another good number with 409 entries locked into the third flight with five more big ones to come.

They will play six more levels today, with one more break in between, and stop at the end of Level 14.

Event 1 Flight C: Last Level to Register

Level 8: 300/600 with a 75 Ante
Flight C Entrants: 386

Jason Gooch (Vidor, TX)

Level 8 is here and it’s the last chance for players to get in this flight. They’ll go on a break when the level is complete, take a 15-minute break, then return with the registration desk closed for this session.

But players still have tonight’s 6pm flight and four more this weekend.

Jason Gooch is back from his travels around the country, since September he has results from Pittsburgh to Colorado to Mississippi and back here in Florida where he had a deep run in the final event of the 2016 Coco Poker Open a few weeks ago.

Event 1 Flight C: #Ambassador Maddah

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 7: 250/500 with a 75 Ante
Flight C Entrants: 383

Wally Maddah (Palm Harbor, FL)
Wally Maddah (Palm Harbor, FL)

Players have less than one hour to make their way down to the ballroom for a piece of today’s early action. Registration will close after the second break and then we’ll have our Flight C numbers.

Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Ambassador Wally Maddah is back for another shot at a Day 2 bag and the newly-bearded pro is trying to put together a nice stack. During his last visit on this side of the state, he final table the $360 Pot Limit Omaha event during the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open.

Among his big list of results, Maddah had quite the accomplishment in the 2014 SHRPO series. He came back with a shorter stack for Day 2 in the $150 multi-day event and decided to fire up that day’s $200 Big Stack event. Not only did Maddah put his short stack in the money, he made the last two tables for a nice result in 15th place.

But that wasn’t all he was doing. Maddah still had his seat in the $200 tournament at the same time and spent his entire day playing two different tournaments. He took that stack all the way to 14th place for a pretty incredible one day, double cash.

Event 1 Flight C: Reis Looking for Another Title

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 6: 200/400 with a 50 Ante
Flight C Entrants: 360

Rafael Reis (Orlando, FL)
Rafael Reis (Orlando, FL)

The entrant count continues to click closer to 400 and we’re seeing more people utilize the re-entry option along the way. Rafael Reis is one player still sitting with his original stack and he knows how to use it.

Reis is a former Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” champ, his title coming during the 2014 series when he outlasted 1,249 other players to earn the $570 No Limit Hold’em title for more than $90,000. Reis seems to have a habit of going on heaters to pick up titles. In 2014, he won two Aria titles within five days and did nearly the same thing this summer in Vegas with an Aria and Venetian title in the same week.

Event 1 Flight C: Fernandez Out Front

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 5: 150/300 with a 50 Ante
Flight C Entrants: 340

Pedro Arez Fernandez holds the early lead
Pedro Arez Fernandez holds the early lead

Players returned to their seats and they now know they have to chase down Pedro Arez Fernandez with the chip lead. In only two hours, he ran his 20,000 stack up to 75,000 for the biggest in the room.

Mario Hudson is his closest competitor with more than 60,000 but there’s plenty of time for players to move to the top.

Top stacks and notables:

Pedro Arez Fernandez – 75,000 (250 bb)
Mario Hudson – 60,650 (202 bb)

Event 1 Flight C: Jinks Gets Two

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
End of Level 4: 100/200 with a 25 Ante
Flight C Entrants: 310

Bobby Jinks
Bobby Jinks

Before Flight C players went on break, newcomer Bobby Jinks found a nice spot to pick up a big hand.

We caught the action as the dealer was creating two side pots with former SHRP champ Raminder Singh all-in along with another opponent while Jinks and Nigel Murray took a ride with them. It was four-ways to the 8h8s4s flop when three bets saw Jinks get all-in and at risk as well.

Murray had a big pair with QhQd but was dominated by Jinks’ KhKd. Singh tabled Jh4c, the other all-in player had QcJs to put both far behind as well. The hand held up as the board finished with the 7h turn and Tc river to send two players out and run Jinks up to 45,000 before the first break.

Event 1 Flight C: Scott Pushing Us Higher

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 4: 100/200 with a 25 Ante
Flight C Entrants: 297

Jacquelyn Scott (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
Jacquelyn Scott (Fort Lauderdale, FL)

Flight C is only a few entries away from hitting 300 and we have a WSOP bracelet winner in the house among them.

Jacquelyn Scott was the last player standing in the 2015 WSOP Ladies Championship to bring the title back to South Florida, along with more than $150,000 for the feat. In recent news, she made back-to-back final tables in our $150 Saturday Deep Stack Special in early October.

Scott is among the growing crowd and they are about to hit their first break of the day.

Event 2: POY Prociak Gets In

$300 Limit Omaha/8 (Re-Entry)
Level 2: 150/300 Limits
Entrants: 45

David Prociak (Orlando, FL)
David Prociak (Orlando, FL)

The Omaha/8 tournament kicked off on schedule with a nice, talented field here in early action including reigning Seminole Hard Poker Player of the Year David Prociak.

The Orlando pro picked up his POY hardware thanks to a great run in 2015/2016 and he hasn’t slowed down. Prociak also enjoys a little four-card poker and he picked up another trophy in the Pot Limit Omaha game during the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open this summer.
