Event 9 Day 1B: Registration Closed

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 9: 400/800 with a 100 ante
Flight 1B Entries: 334

Level 9 has begun, and the field is locked at 334 entries. Combined with the 379 Day 1A entries, the total field stands at 713 and counting with four more flights of play scheduled over the next two days.

This event needs to draw 2,000 total entries to meet the $1,000,000 guarantee, and the early pace is certainly encouraging.

Event 9 Day 1B: Last Chance to Register

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 8: 300/600 with a 75 ante
Flight 1B Entries: 320

There are about ten minutes left in the current level, after which there will be a 15-minute break. When the new level begins, registration will close for this flight, so this represents the last chance to join (or re-join) the Day 1B field.

The board shows 320 entries so far.

Jake Schwartz

Jake Schwartz raised to 1,400 under-the-gun and was called by a player in middle position and the big blind. They were three-handed to a flop of Qc8c4s and all three players checked.

The turn was the Jd and action checks to the player in middle position, who bet 2,300. The big blind folded and Schwartz called. The river was the 4h and Schwartz checked again. Middle position bet 5,000 and Schwartz took a few moments before calling.

Middle position shows Kd10d, giving him a missed straight draw and king-high, while Schwartz wins the pot with 10s8s, good for a pair of eights.

Jake Schwartz – 44,500

“Just write that I’m playing like s***,” Danny Suied said, noticing the reporters near his table. “I look good, but I’m playing like s***.”

Suied is working on his second entry of this flight, and his mulligan stack has dipped down to around 14,000. There’s still plenty of time for him to recover — or to re-enter, a matter about which Suied also inquired.

“How late can I rebuy?” he asked, thinking ahead. He and the rest of the field have until the start of Level 9 to re-enter, just about 90 minutes from now.

Danny Suied 14,000 (35 bb)

Early position check-raised to 12,300 and Altinbas called. Winzeler took a few moments and then folded. The river was the 8s and the player in early position moved all in. Altinbas called and was all in for 11,900.

Flight 1A Entries: 236

Adam Levy and Mukul Pahuja
Adam Levy and Mukul Pahuja

The field for this evening’s flight is relatively stacked with familiar faces considering the modest price point. The heroes are mostly spread out evenly throughout the room, but two of them have found themselves elbow to elbow at one of the far tables.

Adam “Roothlus” Levy is one of the original legends of online poker, and he’s amassed more than $2.5 million in his live career, as well. Mukul Pahuja is best known for his live prowess, accumulating more than $4.3 million, with the vast majority of that coming during the last three years. He’s also won a few tournament titles, narrowly missing out on a couple more major ones, as well.

Both Levy and Pahuja are Florida natives, both are accomplished tournament pros, and they’re keeping it friendly so far here in Event 9.

Event 9 Day 1B: James Salmon Flops a Set

$570 No Limit Hold’em Re-Entry
Level 4: 100/200 with a 25 ante
Flight 1B Entries: 226

On the turn with the board reading 9h7d4d3h, the big blind checks and James Salmon bets 2,800 on the button. The big blind check-calls and the river is the 2h.

The big blind checks again and Salmon bets 7,000. The big blind quickly calls and Salmon tables 7c7s, good for a set of sevens and the big blind mucks his hand.

Salmon, fresh off a runner-up finish in the $350 No Limit Hold’em Re-Entry event for $91,097, drags the pot and is off to a good start this flight.

James Salmon – 33,200
