The final break of the night is over and players are freshly back in their seats set to log two more levels of action. John Grasso has emerged with a gigantic stack of over 420,000 chips. Not only does that put him in the lead in his respective flight, it puts him well ahead of Flight A Chris Thompson’s 240,000.

Grasso resides in Coral Springs and has a modest tournament resumes that includes four cashes and $25,804 in earnings. All signs point to him bagging the chip lead, but with nearly 60 minutes of action left in Flight B, anything can happen.

While it’s not his 20,000-chip stack that’s turning heads, Antonio Albanes has found a way to stand out among the sea of 136 players still alive in Flight B of Event 1. Albanes is sporting a sharp, light dress shirt with a fancy vest and a crisp tie. Pulling the look together is a pair of tie-die glasses that spell out “Groovy”.

What’s not so groovy is the hand he recently played. He checked the flop in a multi-way pot in early position only to see two players go all in.

“I’m going to get stay out of this one,” he said when it folded back to him.

As mentioned before, he sits on just about 20,000 chips or 20 big blinds.

It appears Ermias Braki leads the field with 170,000 chips. He’s had quite the hot streak thus far, but other such as Adam Levy (115,500), Oren Maimon (107,000) and Mark Theodore (105,000) have made their presence known as well. Theodore is seated next to Elizabeth Dabas who was the chip leader following the first break. Her stack has gone down since we last touched based with her as she now holds 66,500.

We will provide the final attendance for Flight B as soon as it’s verified.

Adam Levy (Los Angeles)

Adam Levy of Los Angeles burst onto the poker scene in the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event when he finished 12th earning $635,011. He’s accumulated nearly $2,000,000 more in career earnings since then and recently finish 9th in the 2016 Coco Poker Showdown Championship good for $3,140.

He’s off to a good start here in Event 1. After leading the flop in a five-way pot, he narrowed to the competition to just one player in late position. He checked the turn and followed suit on the river. The player bet 2,000 and Levy called with a pair of sixes. They were good and Levy now holds 40,000 chips — double starting stack.

Event 1 Day 1B: Sam Panzica Gets One Through

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 5: 150/300/50
Flight 1B Entries: 257

Sam Panzica
Sam Panzica (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)

South Florida pro Sam Panzica recently earned his largest career score in the EPT Dublin High Roller event. He bested a field of 140 entries and pocketed more than $418,000 surpassing his previous career high of $109,326 which came in a $570 event at this very property.

Here in Event 1, Panzica is in need of some help late in Level 5. Most recently, he opened to 700 and a player in late position three-bet to an unknown amount. It was back on Panzica and he sloppily slid the remainder of his 11,000-chip stack in. The opponent folded and Panzica increased his holdings.
