Event 10 Day 1C: Three More Hands

$570 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 14: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 ante
Players Remaining: 83 of 373

The clock was paused with ten minutes left in the level, and a card was drawn. It was a three, so each table will play that many more hands before the survivors bag up for the day.

Since the last check-in just a few minutes ago, chipleader Nick Palma has continued to do work. He’s now sitting with more than 450,000 chips, good for about 150 big blinds at the Day 2 starting level. If that count holds for the last three hands, he’ll bag up by far the biggest stack out of the nearly 1,100 entries that have participated in the first three flights.

A full list of survivors’ chip counts will be posted once play concludes.

Nick Palma (Bronx, NY)

Nick Palma opened to 4,500 in middle position, and Chad Eveslage three-bet to 11,000 in the cutoff. Palma four-bet to 26,500, and Eveslage five-bet shoved for just about 80,000 total. Palma quickly called to put him at risk.

Palma: AhAc
Eveslage: QdQc

The board ran out 9s7h3c5c7d, and Palma’s aces held to earn him the knockout. “Sorry, buddy,” he said as Eveslage stood up to leave. “Crush ’em tomorrow.”

Palma is doing his crushing today. That pot moves him over 300,000 chips, and he’s setting the pace for this flight with one level remaining in the day.

Nick Palma – 325,000 (163 bb)

$570 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 13: 1,000/2,000 with a 300 ante
Players Remaining: 99 of 373

Daniel Buzgon opened to 5,000 in early position, Taimur al Said called in the cutoff, and Shawn Vrenna defended his big blind to create three-way action.

The flop was 9h5d2s. It checked to al Said, who bet 8,000, and Vrenna folded. Buzgon deliberated for maybe 90 seconds, then moved all in for 31,600 total. Al Said called to put him at risk.

Buzgon: AcQd
Al Said: JhJd

The Js on the turn left Buzgon drawing dead, and the 2s river gave al Said the pot with jacks full. Buzgon was eliminated, and it seems likely that he’ll soon show up in the Day 1D field on the other side of the room.
