David Peters

David Peters has his place booked for Day 4 of the Championship and now he looks like he might pick up a trophy tonight as a warmup. His big move began when he opened to 2,700 and called after Ray Qartomy three-bet to 10,000 from the button.

Peters checked the 9h4d2s flop and Qartomy put him all in. After a quick think, Peters called and tabled 7h7s.

“Good call,” Qartomy said when has the hand.

Qartomy flipped up AhKs and couldn’t catch the 5c turn or 2c river to send the big double to Peters. They counted down his stack and Qartomy had to give up 44,800 across the table.

David Peters – 120,000 (100 bb)
Ray Qartomy – 73,000 (61 bb)

Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Darryll Fish

Since besting the guarantee nearly two hours ago, the field in the one-day $5,000 buy-in event has grown at a modest pace. The Championship’s early finished changed that, though, as the 18 players that bagged were suddenly left with an early night. The $5,000 event, which is slated to finish up sometime after midnight, got an influx of entries including Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Darryll Fish and Shaun Deeb who are among the Championship’s final 18.

Shaun Deeb

Fish and Deeb both got in the action and helped grow the entry count to 56. They’ve had a decent start, too, as it appears both have doubled up early.

Cards are back in the air following the first break in Event 13 of the Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open, a $5,000 buy-in $200,000 guaranteed one-day event. The entry count surpassed 30 during the brief recess as the field now sits at 31. That accounts for $147,250 of the prize pool with registration and re-entry available until about 6:40pm (through the dinner break).

After making Day 2 of the RRPO Championship but ultimately busting shy of the money, Jennifer Tilly is back in the game here in the $5,000. She has a tough table with the likes of Barry Hutter facing off against her. With a World Series of Poker bracelet to her credit, Tilly looks to top a tough field and add to her accolades with a one-day win in this unique big buy-in event.

Scott Wright recently busted the Championship in 30th place, earning $10,260. He promptly made a move to the registration desk and is one of the most recent entries here in the $5,000.

Midway through Level 4, the clock shows 26 entries with 43 needed to hit the guarantee.

This event comes on the heels of a successful one-day postlim during last August’s Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open. That tournament came in at the $10,000 pricepoint and had a guarantee of $500,000. In all, over 115 entries turned out more than doubling the six-figure target.  Earning the $334,176 top prize was Alexander Turyansky of Germany.

Tomorrow’s $5,000 installment is expected to draw another solid field and award another stout first prize. Updates throughout the event will be available right here at SHRPO.com.
