A quick stroll through the tournament area revealed Stuart Krasney as one of the event’s big stacks. Krasney has transformed his 12,000 starting chips into well over 60,000.

Whatever his tactics, Krasney is trending up and peaking midway through Level 7.

2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year Ory Hen

Ory Hen rose to Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year fame in 2015. He’s long been a staple at any SHRP event and owns seven career tournament wins including five right here in Hollywood. Hen has also had success on the Circuit winning a ring and more than $52,000 in a 2011 event in West Palm Beach.

So far so good here for the former Seminole POY as he’s well ahead of starting stack late in Level 6.

The midweek morning poker is picking up as the clock recently ticked into triple digits. The field now sits at 109 entries with late registration and re-entry available until about 3:30pm. Two previous standouts — Paul Balzano and Kurt Jewell — have done their part each hitting the rail early and promptly re-entering.

14 WSOP Circuit ring gold rings are up for grabs at the Seminole Hard Rock.

The World Series of Poker Circuit goes now through Monday, October 2nd. The series boasts 14 gold ring events as well as a number of side events. Today’s Flight A marks the first of six starting flights in the $580 buy-in, $500,000 guaranteed opener. Along with the biggest slice of the prize pool, its winner will earn the Circuit’s token prize — a gold ring.

In addition to the gold rings, the WSOP Circuit at Seminole Hard Rock will see two players earn Global Casino Championship entries valued at $10,000 each. The first seat goes to the Main Event champion while the second seat will be bestowed upon the Casino Champion.

The $500,000 guaranteed opener is one of three headliners on the series schedule. The other two are the $1,675 buy-in, $1,000,000 guaranteed Main Event and the $3,250 buy-in, $250,000 guaranteed High Roller.

Paul Balzano

The World Series of Poker’s first visit to Hollywood, Florida is expected to attract a number of new faces to the Seminole Hard Rock, but the big fields will also bring out the area regulars. One of those regulars, Paul Balzano, is in the game early here on Flight A of the $580 opener.

Balzano has enjoyed a number of titles in his home state, but is in search of his first WSOP win. The brand owns one of the most prestigious trophies in the game — a gold bracelet — and awards gold rings during their year-long Circuit tour. Balzano, who finished fourth in the 2016 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year race, has sights on one of those rings and will surely be around throughout the next 12 days.

This marks the first time for the property to partner with the WSOP and big things are expected as the series kicks off with a $580 buy-in, $500,000 guarantee.
