Phil Hui

Flight C of Event 1 isn’t the only big game going on in the Event Center, the Omaha/8 tournament is pulling a nice field of its own.

The 82 entries already pushed the field over the numbers from this tournament last year and they’ll be chasing 100 before registration closes at 3:30.

Four-card specialist Phil Hui took a seat in the game and that means trouble for the rest of his table. He owns a WSOP bracelet in Omaha/8 along with four WSOP Circuit rings and two SHRP trophies, the most recent from November’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open H.O.R.S.E. event.

But Hui ran into big hand against Kevin “Kevmath” Mathers who bet with the board reading 4c3c3dTd2c. Hui and another opponent called and Mathers tabled QsTc6c5c for the straight flush to scoop the pot.

Kevin Mathers

The Omaha/8 tournament kicked off at the same time as Flight C of Event 1. It’s a smaller field but it has some talent in the game early.

Poker social media guru Kevin “Kevmath” Mathers made his way to South Florida and he was one of the first players to get in the game. He discounts his chances at the title but we have a little more faith.

Event 3: Split Pot Friday
