Level 12: 800/1,600
Players Remaining: 20 of 93

Gary Kosakowski raised on the button to 5,400 and Pete Walsworth potted it out of the small blind. Darren Rose called out of the big blind and was all in for 15,000. Kosakowski thought for quite some time before calling as well, all in for 15,900.

Kosakowski showed AhTh9c8d5s, Walsworth tabled As2h3hTcKh and Rose turned over Ac8c3d3s2d.

The board ran out 7h6s2s7s9h and Kosakowski rivered a straight, while Walsworth and Rose each made the nut low, giving Kosakowski half of the pot, while Walsworth and Rose each got a quarter.

Level 12: 800/1,600

Matt Edge

After a victory in the $570 no-limit hold’em with a $1 million guaranteed prize pool and a third place in the $360 pot-limit Omaha hi-lo, Edge is once again in a good position deep in a tournament.

This time he holds a sizable chip lead in the $360 Big O with 21 players left. John Holley, who walked away with a Hard Rock trophy last night in the Seniors event, is also at the top of the leaderboard.

Top Five Chip Stacks:

Matt Edge – 145,000
Gabriel Ramos – 87,000
John Holley – 86,000
Zachary Milchman – 62,000
David Prociak – 61,000

Other notables still alive include Pete Walsworth (52,000), who is looking for his fourth final table of the series, Phil Hui (39,000) and Dan Heimiller (31,000)

Event 12: James Gunter Eliminated by Robert Campbell

$360 Big O
Structure | Payouts
Level 11: 600/1,200
Players Remaining: 22 of 93

Robert Campbell

Robert Campbell was under the gun and got into a preflop confrontation with James Gunter. Gunter was on the button and all in for 11,600 and Campbell had him just barely covered.

Campbell tabled Ad5d5c8c6s and was up against Gunter’s KcKsQh6c4h.

The board ran out Tc8d4dJd6h and Campbell won the pot with the nut flush and an ace-five low. Gunter, who won the $360 HORSE last week, finishes about a table shy of the money in this event.

Robert Campbell – 26,000
James Gunter – Eliminated

Event 12: Andrew Blum Triples Up

$360 Big O
Structure | Payouts
Level 10: 500/1,000
Players Remaining: 26 of 93

Andrew Blum

The player in the hijack raised to 3,500 and Joel Harwood called on the button. Andrew Blum moved all in out of the small blind for 13,200 and was called by both the hijack and Harwood.

Harwood and the hijack checked the rest of the hand down, declining to build a side pot on a board of QdTs2cQhJd.

Harwood showed Ad8s8h4h2s, the hijack briefly tabled his hand before mucking it and Blum tripled up with QsThAs4s3h.

Andrew Blum – 40,600
Jel Harwood – 35,000

Phil Hui (left) and Joel Harwood (right)

“I didn’t teach Phil anything,” is what Joel Harwood said in his winner’s interview after capturing the SHRPO Pot Limit Omaha/8 tournament.

He was speaking of Phil Hui, the significant other of his (poker superstar) daughter Loni, and a mix-game monster in his own right.

They may be teaching other some lessons all day long today. Hui entered the Big O tournament and drew a seat next Harwood.

David Shmuel

Players in the Big O game are having a great time. There’s plenty of laughter in that part of the room and the five-card hi-lo game is keeping things loose and happy.

We have three players in the field who already picked up a SHRPO trophy this week. David Shmuel earned his third SHRP title late in the evening when he captured the $360 Pot Limit Omaha trophy.

At that final table and finishing in third place was Peter Walsworth. If “SHRPO POY” was a thing, Walsworth would probably be leading after the first week. Besides yesterday’s final table finish, he won the Omaha/8 tournament on opening day and followed that up with a fourth-place finish in the H.O.R.S.E. event.

Joel Harwood is a popular player in all of our events and the room was happy when he won the Pot Limit Omaha/8 title this past weekend.

Event 12: Introducing the “Big O”

$360 Big O Five-Card PLO8 (Re-Entry)
Structure
Level 1: 25/50

We know a lot of people circled this tournament on the schedule when it was released. Big O is a popular cash game and now we’re bringing it to the major tournament side for the first time at 3pm this afternoon.

Big O is a Pot Limit Omaha/8 or Better variant but players are dealt five cards instead of the standard four. This really juices the action with more draws and bigger draws and the chips get in the middle in a hurry.

Big O participants sit down to 10,000 stacks and play 30-minutes levels throughout. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are open until the start of Level 9 at 7:30pm. They will continue to play it down from that point until we have our first ever SHRPO Big O champ.

  • Players begin with 10,000 in chips and 30-minute levels
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 9
  • This is a one-day tournament and plays until completion
