Event 1 Flight B: Wednesday Night Poker

$400 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 1: 100/100

The 2019 RRPO series continues this evening with the second of eight lights of Event 1. The $400 buy-in tournament has a huge $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool and Flight A put 400 entries in the game to start.

That’s a great start to the series and the tournament is on an easy path to that seven-digit prize pool.

Players will start with 20,000 deep stacks and all Day 1 levels last 30 minutes, increasing to 40 minutes on Day 2. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 9:30 pm and their day will come to an end after Level 14. Those with chips will bag them up for a Day 2 return on Sunday.

Cards go in the air at 5 pm and we will bring you all the highlights.

  • $1,000,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool
  • Players begin with 20,000 in chips
  • Day 1 levels last 30 minutes; Day 2 levels last 40 minutes
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 9

Level 9: 800/1,600 Limits

The second break is complete for the Omaha 8 tournament and registration closed when play got back underway. Event 2 has a great turnout with 86 four-card split-pot poker fans and they will compete for the first trophy of the series. We will post the prize pool and payout information as soon as it is available.

They will play three more levels before taking their dinner break at 6 pm.

Level 10: 600/1,200 with a 1,200 ante
Flight A Players Remaining: 171 of 400

The numbers were crunched and Flight A officially put the first 400 entries into Event 1. That’s a great start to getting to the $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool and well ahead of last year.

Flight A will continue on through Level 14, with one break in the middle, before survivors bag up their chips for a Day 2 return on Sunday.

Event 1 Flight A: Marvin Young Leads After Second Break

$400 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 9: 500/1,000 with a 1,000 ante
Flight A Entries: 400

Marvin Young

The second break is complete and registration is closed on the first of eight Event 1 flights. The tournament clock shows an unofficial 400 entries but there is some accounting to complete before locking it in.

We have a new leader in the room. Marvin Young climbed to the top and sits there with 140,000 to lead the way with Pedro Enriques second with 121,100.

Event 1 Flight A: Last Level to Register

$400 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 8: 400/800 with a 800 ante
Flight A Entries: 375

Level 8 is here and that means time is running out to get into the opening flight of the tournament. They will play out this level, take a 15-minute break, and close registration when they return.

The count stands at 375 entries to leave Flight A only a half dozen away from matching last year’s number. That tournament ended drawing 4,558 entries so we’re on a very nice pace.

Event 1 Flight A: More Regulars

Level 6: 300/500 with a 500 ante
Flight A Entries: 355

Nancy Thomas

We had another nice run at the registration desk over the last level to push the count over 350. We have 381 entries for this flight last year and that number is in play.

It would be tough to run these big tournaments if not for our loyal group of regulars who support every series. We have a room full of them again along with our out-of-town visitors.

Among them include Nancy Thomas, Willie Wiggins, Zachary Mullennix (fresh off a WSOPC Coco win), and reigning WSOP Seniors Champion Howard Mash.

Event 1 Flight A: Michael Tait Leads

Level 5: 200/400 with a 400 ante
Flight A Entries: 314

Michael Tait

The first break is complete, the entry count climbed over 300, and we have a new chip leader.

SHRP regular Michael Tait took his 20,000 starting stack and pushed it up to 80,300 in the first two hours of the day. That is good enough for the early lead with former November Niner Neil Blumenfield sitting in second with 77,400.

Nic Manion, another WSOP Main Event final table member (from 2018), began on a hot streak but settled back down to 45,000 from his high of 63,400.

Level 4: 200/300 with a 300 ante
Flight A Entries: 281

Jeff Kessler

The clock is ticking down to the first break of the day and the field is close to hitting 300 entries at the midpoint of the registration period. We should surpass last year’s opening flight number and then add some more.

Jeff Kessler was another entrant here at the start. We don’t get to see the fun-loving grinder as often these days as the snowbird only makes his way south for this series. Kessler has some RRPO success; he won the RRPO Seniors title in 2013 for a nice payday.

Event 1 Flight A: Two Hundred and Climbing

Level 3: 100/200 with a 200 ante
Flight A Entries: 220

Jeffrey Trudeau Jr

The Flight A entry count is quickly climbing, more than doubling over the first level and it is now over 200 with a lot of time to build it up. More than three hours remain to get in the game but Flight B goes at 5 pm if you miss out.

Jeffrey Trudeau Jr took an early seat and sports one of the better lists of accomplishments in the room. The young grinder already has more than $1,7 million in career earnings, 194 recorded cashes, and 20 tournament wins.

Seven of those wins resulted in a WSOP Circuit ring including the WSOPC Coco High Roller title at our sister room in Coconut Creek.

Event 2: Trophy Hunting

$400 Limit Omaha 8 (Re-Entry)
Structure
Level 1: 500/100 Limits

Event 1 kicked off the 2019 RRPO series but Event 2 will award the first trophy. The $400 Limit Omaha 8 tournament has a one-day format and we will crown our first champ later this evening.

Each entrant will sit down to a 12,000 starting stack and all levels last 30 minutes. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 4:30 pm and players may re-enter as often as they wish during that time. There is a dinner break scheduled at 6 pm and they will play down to a winner when they return.

This the first of many non-hold’em games and should have a talented group of players.

  • Players begin with 12,000 in chips and 30-minute levels
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 9
  • This is a one-day tournament and plays until completion
