David Albertson had a close call recently in a Seniors event here at the Seminole Hard Rock, having finished in fourth place in the 2018 Rock N Roll Poker Open back in November for $2,471. Less than five months later, Albertson was back at a Seniors event final table and this time he emerged victorious, winning outright for $12,900.

“It feels good,” said Albertson afterward. “I’ve been coming here for thirty years. I tried to chop it three ways and in the end, it worked out anyway. It feels good.”

Albertson began the final table third in chips and steadily increased his stack, taking the chip lead when the field was down to eight players. From there, Albertson held the lead for nearly the duration of the final table.

A brief discussion of a deal between the final three players took place, with Albertson being all for it. However, talks fizzled and the cards were back in the air.

Less than 25 minutes later, Albertson defeated Neil Blumenfield heads up to win his first SHRP trophy.
