Championship Day 1B: Making Some History

$5,250 SHRPO Championship
$3,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 1:  100/200 with a 200 ante

Day 1B of the 2021 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship is ready to go and cards go in the air at 11 am. The last chance for players to hoist the new SHRPO Championship trophy.

The first milestone of the day will be hit the moment cards go in the air. Only 46 new entries are needed to surpass the $3,000,000 guarantee and we’ll have more than that registered before the start. That’s the easy one. The stretch goals include tacking more money on top of the guarantee, hitting four-digit entries, seeing how close it can get to the massive 2013/2014 SHRPO field.

It will be an exciting Saturday in the Seminole Ballroom.

Championship players start with 40,000 stacks out front and levels run for 60 minutes until the tournament reaches the last three tables, increasing to 90 minutes at that point. Late registration is open until the start of Level 9 at 9:15 pm and players have a single re-entry available to them if needed.

Day 1B will come to an end and anyone with chips will bag them up for a Day 2 advance tomorrow at noon joining the 186 from Day 1A.

  • $3,000,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool
  • Players begin with 40,000 in chips
  • Levels last 60 minutes until 27 players remain then 90 minutes until heads-up
  • Late registration until start of Level 9 (9:15pm)
  • Single re-entry per day
  • Day 1 will come to an end after Level 10

Cherish Andrews raised from the hijack, Paul Fisher called from the cutoff and the player in the big blind called.

The flop was Ks3s3c, the big blind checked, Andrews continued for 5,000 and only Fisher called.

The turn was the 6h and both checked.

The river was the Kd, Andrews bet 15,000 and Fisher called.

Andrews tabled 10h10d for kings and tens, besting Fisher’s 7h7s to win the pot.

Cherish Andrews – 320,000 (160 bb)
Paul Fisher – 65,000 (33 bb)

With Mark Dube slipping during this past level, Andrews is among several players in the 320k range in the running for the chip lead.

Day 1A Players Remaining:  234 of 573

Mark Dube

The chip leader approaching the final level of Day 1A is Mark Dube with about 432,000.

We noticed former chip leader Gabriel Abusada’s seat empty and Dube with a good 150,000 more than he had previously, so we inquired for the hand that made it happen.

Following a flop of 5h4h3h, Abusada got it in for roughly 100,000 with Ah10c against Dube’s 5x5x.

Dube faded the outs that he needed to, eliminating Abusada and ascending to the chip lead.
