Event 6 of the 2023 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open was a $600 Deep Stack Six-Max Pot-Limit Omaha (Re-Entry). A field of 173 entries generated a prize pool of $90,825 and taking it down was Sam Sternfield, winning outright for $23,260.

“The curse is over!” said an excited and relieved Sternfield after.

This marked Sternfield’s 10th final table and 19th cash in an SHRP major series event.

“So many close calls. I was out for blood today.”

Sam Sternfield limped for 25,000 on the button, and Jeffrey Gale checked in the big blind.

The flop was , Gale potted for 75,000, Sternfield repotted for 225,000, Gale reraised all in for about 390,000, and Sternfield called.

Both players had the same seven-high straight with outs to a bigger straight, but Sternfield was freerolling with a flush draw.

The turn kept things even, but the river gave Sternfield a flush to win Event 6 outright for $23,260. Jeffrey Gale finished runner-up for $15,300.

We have a nice turnout for the Six-Max PLO tournament on the other side of the Grand Ballroom. More than 100 players are in the game as they get ready for the first break and more are expected with registration closed in the Limit Omaha 8 event.

A few familiar faces include Matt Bretzfield, Frank Brannan, Pavel Ivan, Eric Kolodny, David Moreno, Dmitry Savelyev, Mike Beasley, and Perla Ojeda.

Bretzfield had a nice run to close out his summer in Vegas. He finished tenth in the WSOP $1,500 Mixed NHL/PLO bracelet event and turned out to win the Venetian $800 Big O for a $20K payout.

They’ll start with 20K stacks out front and all levels last 30 minutes. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 6:30 pm. From there, it’s a straight shot to the final table and eventual next SHRPO champ.
