Deep Stack Poker Series Event 5 was a $600 Deepest Stack No-Limit Hold’em tournament with two flights and a $150,000 guarantee. It drew 301 entries for a prize pool worth $156,520 and it was stacked with talented players.

After a tough final table and extra day of play, Michael Newman captured his second Deep Stack Poker Series title for $28,301 in a heads-up deal with TK Miles.

His other trophy? Newman won last year’s $1,700 Deepest Stack tournament which kicked off this morning and we expect him in the field to defend.

The river was 5s, Miles checked, Newman bet 250,000 and Miles check-raised to 1,200,000.

Newman sat back and started talking through what Miles could have.

The flop was Jh4h3h, Newman checked, Miles continued for 175,000 and Newman called.

The turn was Kh and both players checked.

The river was 8h for a fifth heart on the board and Newman bet 175,000. Miles thought and talked and called.
