Event 10 should be chocked full of action with the smallest buy-in tournament of the series but a nice $150,000 guaranteed prize pool. There are plenty of chances to run up the entrant count or get into the game with eight starting flights over the next three days.
The first flight is about to kick off with players sporting 12,000 starting stacks and 30-minute levels. The flight will play through 14 levels before bagging up and returning on Saturday. Late registration and re-entry is available until the start of Level 7 and we expect the small price will produce a lot of activity.
Cards in the air for Day 1A with another flight kicking off at 7pm.
Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ’N’ Roll” Poker Open Event 10: $300 Big Stack PLO 8B (Re-Entry)
November 20, 2014
Total Entries: 64 Total Prize Pool: $16,320
A spirited and talented group took to the final table in Event 10 trying to take down this $300 Big Stack PLO8 event. In the end, Bradley Young and Robert Wachtell were left standing after some incredible action with Young taking the championship.
A table filled with wild banter saw most of the players who were creating the excitement leave the table first. Kathy Fleck and Sergio Cortella were the first two to go followed by Joseph Panatola. Shannon Kelly, who was providing most of the entertainment, lost his chip lead and ended up finishing in 5th place.
Leaving Young, Wachtell, Don Todd and Michael Bees fighting it out four-handed set the table for a critical collision. Bees lost to Wachtell on two hands which saw Wachtell hit quads and then three-quarted Bees on a two-outer.
Wachtell then ended up in a three-way hand with Bees and Todd and eliminated them both on the same hand hitting trips and avoiding a low hand coming out on the board to set up a heads-up match with Young.
After a short heads-up match where Young was able to wrestle the chip lead away from Wachtell, the two players called it a night and Young was given the championship in the deal after a very well-played final table by the entire group.
“They were all fundamentally great players. My overall experience turned out to be an asset for me. I rarely play this game but as it went along I was able to pick my spots. I tend to overplay pocket pairs playing hold ’em but I learned in this game to not do that and I finally won a championship here (Seminole Hard Rock-Hollywood).
The New Yorker makes frequent trips to Seminole Hard Rock usually visiting the area four times a year. And after 15 years of coming here, he claimed his first title. “I finally won one here. It was an incredible experience. Everyone here – the staff, the dealers and the floor are great.” Young now plans to use the money he won tonight to buy into the Main Event starting November 28th.
Congratulations to our Event 10 Champion, Bradley Young!

After a brief heads-up battle, Bradley Young edged out a chip lead and the players agreed to stop giving Young the championship.
Following the double-elimination Wachtell pulled off, Wachtell had taken the lead into heads-up play but Young was able to pull the stacks back to even and with one more push, Young was ahead to stay.
The New Yorker who makes regular trips to play at Seminole Hard Rock-Hollywood claims his first title here and will take home $5,933. Robert Wachtell finishes in 2nd place for $3,101.
After a prolonged battle at this final table, Robert Wachtell decided it was time to make some room.
Michael Bees made a pot bet to open, Todd also bet pot putting himself all in and Wachtell and Bees made the call with Bees all-in as well.
Bees with and Todd with an low and flush were both banking on low cards to come but Wachtell held . The board ran out . With no low draw, Wachtell’s trips were good and send both Bees and Todd to the payout window.
Don Todd finishes in 3rd place for $2,162 and Michael Bess finished 4th for $1,648.
Shannon Kelly probably knew what was coming. With a ton of chips already in the pot against Bradley Young, a hit the board. Young put Kelly all-in and Kelly tried to catch.
Young: Kelly:
Kelly was double-suited with kings and had at least one card to each of the flush draws but the trip 4’s held. The talkative Kelly saw his night end finishing in 5th place for $1,240.
Like our friends in Buffalo, Joseph Panatola had tough sledding all night and finally ran into a drift.
Panatola, with only 2 blinds left, ended up all-in in a three-way pot with Robert Wachtell and Bradley Young. His opponents checked it down on a board. Wachtell flipped over a 7-10 rivering a straight. It turned out to be the key card as Panatola had hit queens and fours on the turn but it wasn’t enough.
Panatola ends a hard-fought evening in 6th place for $930.
The enthusiastic Sergio Cortella was an all-in machine keeping the table on its heels but Michael Bees finally cracked him.
Bees: Cortella:
Cortella was in good shape to at least chop the pot but the flop came and then left Bee’s sixes to play and took Cortella out. Cortella picks up $718 for his day’s work.
Bradley Young calling the table “stubborn buggers” is about right. Despite numerous all-ins, the last eight have been able to survive to Level 19.
Shannon Kelly still leads but Bradley Young and Robert Wachtell are closing the gap. Of course, in PLO8 no one’s out of it and we expect a wild ride coming up for Event 10 championship.
At a table full of fun, Bradley Young wasn’t messing around and Kathy Fleck paid the price.
After Young did a pot-sized raise, Fleck decided to make the call. On a , Young quickly bet pot again and Fleck fired the rest of her chips and saw the bad news.
Young: Fleck:
Fleck needed running cards to catch up but got no help and saw her night ended here in Event 10 in 8th place for $588.
Don Todd had been nursing the shortest stack at this final table and picked the right time to take a stand.
After seven callers and a flop and Bradley Young betting pot, Todd made the call.
Todd: Young:
Young’s two pair led Todd’s straight draw. With a turn card of , Todd now had two straight draws with a wheel draw. A came on the river completed the wheel draw and Todd scooped the pot and rebuilt his stack. Todd then won another pot with aces and is back in contention.
Shannon Kelly still leads and the rest of the table has evened out as we move on here in Event 10.
