It’s bounty time in the ballroom. For while most of the ballroom will be taken up by the Event 10 restart, the two new events on the schedule today put a price on each player’s head.
Event 11 is a $360 buy-in tournament where $100 of each entry is paid to the person who knocks that player out. A player could very well be making a profit long before they hit the payout portion from the normal prize pool.
The tournament has a $30,000 guaranteed prize pool and each entrant starts with a 15,000 stack out front. The one-day tournament will play 30-minute levels throughout and late registration is open until the start of Level 9 at 4:30pm.
It will be a fast moving affair with the added incentive to loosen up to collect those $100 cash chips and we’ll have our next new champion in no time.

2016 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood Event #11 $350 No Limit Hold’em Total Entries: 317 Prizepool: $95,100 April 10, 2016
After nearly 16 hours of No Limit Hold’em, the $350 No Limit Hold’em, ended in a six-way deal, with Gilbert Silva taking credit for the win and earning $15,167 along with the trophy. He topped a field of 317 players to earn the title.
“It feels great,” said Silva. “It’s been a long time coming. Just hopefully we win some more.
At the outset of the final table, Silva was near the top of the chip counts. He continued to chip up and never really seemed short on chips as the final table continued along.
As the clock neared 4 a.m., there were still six players remaining and the talks of a deal surfaced and by that point, Silva had overtaken the chip lead. The negotiations last almost 15 minutes and Silva wouldn’t accept a deal unless he received at least $15,000.
Eventually, a deal was reached and Silva was declared the winner.
Silva, a 36-year old security manager at the Miami International Airport, takes poker as a serious hobby. He plays all around the South Florida area, putting in around 15 hours a week on the felt, mostly tournaments.
Even though he is an amateur by definition, he has his sights on playing with the best in the world.
“I’ve had a few chops here and there,” said Silva after his win. “I obviously just want to try and take it to the next level and play some bigger tournaments.”
Silva earns the biggest score of his career and will have some extra cash in his bankroll to play bigger events if he wants, but for now, he is trying to get some sleep before getting back to his airport grind.
I’m just so tired right now,” said Silva. “I need to be at work in the morning.”
