Matt Stout

Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Matt Stout moved all in for his last 7,500 with AdKc and got called by KdKs.

The board came 6d5d4d8s and Stout asked the dealer for an off suit seven right before the 7c hit the river. “See? I’m a gentleman! Another player would have been greedy and asked for the seven of diamonds”

Matt Stout  –  9,000

Aleks Dimitrov opened with a raise in middle position, and Jason Koon defended his big blind.

The flop was Tc5h2d. Koon checked, Dimitrov continued for 1,000, and Koon check-raised to 2,500. That’s where it got interesting.

Dimitrov was getting short on chips at that point, and he called with a multicolored string of several chips. It was just a call, but Koon mistakenly thought it represented an all-in shove. He “called” and tabled his hand, showing Td3d just as the dealer put the 3s out on the turn.

“Floor!”

The hand was allowed to play out, and Dimitrov ultimately open-mucked TsJh, which he knew was behind.

Koon was assessed a one-orbit penalty, a decision which he politely appealed. Tournament Director Tony Burns arrived to hear the account, and Koon readily admitted it was his error and his alone. He argued that he’d likely cost himself a larger profit with his own mistake, and that there was no room for malicious intent.

“I really screwed myself bad,” he lamented at one point.

Burns reduced the penalty to two hands, and Koon was right back in the action a moment later, offering his apologies to Dimitrov.

Jason Koon – 52,000
Aleks Dimitrov – 7,500

Three players limped into the pot, including T.K. Miles on the button. Ronit Chamani squeezed in a raise from the small blind, and only the first limper folded.

The flop was all low cards, and Chamani continued with a bet of 2,500. The player in middle position called, and Miles raised all in for about 9,500. Chamani re-shoved, isolating with a chance at the knockout.

Miles showed Qd3d for a pair of threes, and Chamani rolled over an overpair with KdKh.

The board bricked off for Miles, and he was eliminated just before the second break.

Ronit Chamani – 38,000
T.K. Miles – Eliminated

Ian O’Hara was on the button, heads-up against the player in the small blind. The flop was 8s6c2h, and the pot was insignificant at that point.

The exact action isn’t clear, but there must have been a series of bets and raises prior to our arrival. The small blind had 10,000 chips out in front of him as we approached, and O’Hara had moved all in for 16,150 total. His opponent eventually called to put him at risk.

O’Hara: 9c9d
Small blind: 7h8d

The Kd turn and Ac river completed the board safely for O’Hara, and he doubled up.

Ian O’Hara – 35,000

Sam Taylor

Three players were involved in heavy action on a QhTd6d flop. Sean Perry and Marvin Rettenmaier checked from the blinds, and Sam Taylor bet 1,900 into a pot of just over 5,000. Perry called, but Rettenmaier check-raised to 5,725.

Taylor slipped deep into the tank, and he pondered for long enough that someone called the clock. Taylor eventually re-raised to 10,200, and Perry folded out of the way with an audible grumble.

That sent the decision back to Rettenmaier, who had 11,075 chips left behind his bet. He, too, needed a few minutes in the tank, and the clock was called once again.

Rettenmaier ultimately surrendered, and Taylor quietly stacked the pot without showing.

“I was going to shove if you folded,” Perry told Taylor after the hand.

Sam Taylor – 53,000
Marvin Rettenmaier – 11,075
