Kurt Lichtman may be writing a nice comeback story. He began the day with 89,900 but dropped down to just 7,600 midway through the day. He has since moved his stack over 160,000 and is much more comfortable.

The big hand came against Richard Arno with Lichtman at risk for his last 71,000 in a race. Lichtman was ahead with 7d7c against AcKc when Arno said, “I never win these.”

“Oh, looks like I’m going to win this one.” he said after seeing the when the flop came KdKsTh to give him a big lead in the hand. The joy didn’t last long when dealer put the 7h on the turn. Lichtman dodged the bigger boat out for his double.

Championship Day 2: Burt Bluffs With A Short Stack

Level 16: 2,000/4,000/500 Ante

With approximately 20,000 in the pot and the board showing KcJc3dKh, Tim Burt checked to his opponent who put out a bet of 10,000. Burt check-raised all in for an additional 34,000 more and after a few seconds his opponent folded. Burt grinned and turned over 5c4c.

“I had a draw,” said Burt, looking happy that he wasn’t called.

It’s not uncommon for players to show up late for a restart, especially if they are coming back to a lot of chips. Saturanino Rodriguez was once such player but has yet to show up to take part in the Day 2 festivities.

Rodriguez bagged up 133,000 chips at the end of 1C but his stack has since dwindled to 45,000 as the next level came around.

We certainly hope Mr. Rodriguez is ok and hope to hear from him soon.

Championship Day 2: Van Patten Almost There

$3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship
Level 15: 1,500/3,000/500 Ante

There was a bet and a call of 15,000 (unknown action) on the turn between Vince Van Patten and his opponent on a board of Tc6h6s7c. The river was the Ah and Van Patten led out for 15,000. His opponent made the call and mucked his hand after Van Patten showed Ad5d for a pair of aces.

Yesterday we mentioned that Van Patten has never cashed in a WPT event before. There are 270 players left leaving him 120 eliminations away from the money. He’s sitting on a healthy stack of 275,000 and is in great position to accomplish that achievement.

Championship Day 2: Moorman Applying Pressure

Level 15: 1,500/3,000/500 Ante

We didn’t see the initial action but there was 7,000 in chips sitting in front of Chris Moorman out of the big blind and 20,000 in front of Matt Salsberg who was on the cutoff so it appeared that Salsberg had limped in, Moorman raised, and Salsberg reraised.

Moorman thought for a moment and put out another raise, to 43,000, and Salsberg went into the tank as this would pretty much commit him if he were to continue. After several minutes, Salsberg decided to wait for a better spot and released his hand.

Championship Day 2: Falling Fast

Level 14: 1,200/2,400/400 Ante

Players are dropping quickly even with the slow structure. The numbers dropped until 400 and nearing 300 with 30 minutes remaining in the level.

Christina Lindley, Vinny Pahuja, Jake Bazeley, Mike Beasley, Ebony Kenney, Jessica Dawley, and Justin Zaki are just a few of those gone this level.

Championship Day 2: Waxman Rivered

Level 15: 1,500/3,000/500 Ante

Matt Waxman will have to wait until the summer to add another Seminole Hard Rock Poker title to his résumé. The WSOP and WPT champion won the 2013 Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N Roll Poker Open” but he is out today short of the bubble.

Waxman led the action until he was all-in with the board reading 9s8s8h3dKc. His opponent called Waxman’s bets with KsJs and caught the river to send Waxman out.
