Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ’N’ Roll Poker Open” Event 13: $300 Omaha 8B (Re-Entry)
November 24-25, 2014
Total Entries: 64 Total Prize Pool: $16,320
Recap
Marc Perlman went wire-to-wire on Day 2 with the chip lead, claiming 1st place, $4,900, the Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ’N’ Roll Poker Open” trophy, and the 16×20 custom framed photograph provided by IMPDI. Perlman had a massive chip lead after dispatching fourth place finisher Lane Abraham and the other remaining players were happy to chop up the remaining prize pool.
Daniel Genachte had slightly more chips than Jeff Trudeau, so he was awarded second place and Trudeau took third. They both collected $3,148 for their efforts.
This Limit Omaha High/Low event drew a modest field of 64 players, generating a total prize pool of $16,320. Only the final eight got paid. Local pro Mike Beasley, who has over $1.3 million in career earnings, bubbled the money in this event, busting out in 9th place. His departure propelled the final 8 into the money and also into Day 2. They bagged up their chips and returned at 1pm Tuesday.
Three players at this final table booked their third cashes of this series. Hyon ‘JJ’ Chun finished 4th in both the HORSE event and the Seniors event, and came close today, finishing 5th. Stephen Reid finished 2nd in the HORSE event and also cashed in a secondary Stud/8 Omaha/8 mixed event. Today he wound up in 7th place. Jeff Trudeau cashed in the opening event and finished 6th in the $1,100 Six Max NLH event before his 3rd place finish in this event.
Marc Perlman was the chip leader coming into Day 2 and he overslept, arriving about an hour after play began and after one player had already been eliminated. He was still the chip leader and never relinquished the lead. “Ever since I was a kid, waking up in the morning was not my strong suit,” he admitted.
Perlman now owns a casino dealing school in Miami, training poker dealers. He started playing poker when he was 13 and worked as a poker dealer for about 7 years and even dealt at the World Series of Poker. The 30-year-old is also an occasional guest and guest host on a poker talk show called Poker Action Line, where they discuss the game.
He mainly plays cash games and Omaha is his specialty, both Pot Limit High-Only, High/Low split and Limit High/Low split. He doesn’t play many tournaments, but has two WSOP cashes in PLO/8 events on his poker resume. “It’s nice [to][book][a][win] for a little confidence boost…I’ve cashed a decent amount, but to actually come in here and play the way that I did and succeed feels really good,” he said.
