Maria Ho

SHRP favorite Maria Ho arrived in town last night and sat down this afternoon for her first SHRPO tournament of the series. She’s warming up for the Big 4 events this weekend where she’ll be more than just playing poker.

On top of her time at the tables, Maria will be hosting our daily videos around the property and mc’ing our Big 4 final table action on August 13. Last summer she had to do a little more work to do; she was mc’ing at the same time that she was playing at a Big 4 final table of her own. Maria finished seventh in the $1,100 event then picked up the microphone and continued to work.

In more recent news, Maria is having a great 2019. She won the LAPC $25K High Roller in March, finished fourth in the partypoker MILLIONS North America High Roller, and final tabled the $5,000 WSOP tournament. In between all of that, she made our WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship final table.

Those WPT final six played it out in Las Vegas and she finished in third place for $334,960. All told, Maria has cashed for $911,563 so far in 2019 and we still have five months remaining in the year.

In addition to her success at the tables, Maria was inducted into the Women’s Poker Hall of Fame earlier this summer to cement her status in the poker world.

Event 15: Dave Phillips Triumphs After Heads-Up Deal

2019 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
Hollywood, Florida
Event 15
$360 Omaha 8/Stud 8 (Re-Entry)
Entries: 60
Prize Pool: $18,000
April 11, 2019

Dave Phillips

Event 15 of the 2019 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown was a $360 Omaha 8/Stud 8 (Re-Entry). A field of 60 entries generated a prize pool of $18,000 and after a heads-up deal was made, Dave Phillips was officially the winner,

“It’s been a long day and it’s been a while since I’ve won one of these,” Phillips said afterward.

Residing in Naples, Phillips makes the two-hour drive to Seminole Hard Rock monthly to dabble in the poker room a little bit.

“I’ll come here to play two or three times a month to play tournaments or in a live game, but I prefer mixed games. A number of years ago I was ranked in the top five or ten in the country in Omaha 8, so I enjoy these., but that was before everything got real big.”

This will probably be all Phillips will play for the rest of the series, as he needs to get back to Naples quickly, which is why he was so eager to get a deal done.

“I’m going home tonight to get some sleep because I have a dentist appointment at 8 in the morning. So when he suggested a chop, since I have a two-hour drive, I was willing to do that.”

Results:
*1st: Dave Phillips – $5,106+ Showdown trophy
*2nd: Adam Stone – $4,709
3rd: Harvey Feldman – $2,615
4th: LArry Germain – $1,815
5th: Adam Brancato – $1,315
