Siddiqui: AcQh

Brin was ahead for the double but Siddiqui hit the Qs9d8h flop but Brin flipped the script again on the Jh turn. An unkind card for the pro and he was left as the short stack after the 2h river.

The UTG+1 player released, claiming later to have folded pocket queens, and D’Angelo was at risk when Plotnikov quickly called.

Plotnikov: AhAs
D’Angelo: KdKs

A tough spot for D’Angelo and he missed the Td9s9c flop. The Jc turn gave him four more gutshot outs but he blanked the 2d river to fall short of the money.

“Sure,” shrugged Seidel.

It was 53,500 and Seidel called with his top pair ahead of Dolofan’s flush draw/gutshot draw/over card hand.

Dolofan: Jh8h
Seidel: AsTs

Players Remaining: 315 of 1,207

Michael Laake

Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Michael Laake wasn’t on our 300K radar at the first break but he’s there now.

His most recent big pot saw him moving all-in after an opponent raised to 50,000 with the board reading Jh5d3hAhJd. The opponent would be at risk but elected to fold the big pot to Laake. The hand moved him over 300,000 and in the comfort grinding zone.

Michael Laake – 325,000 (163 bb)

Championship: Mike Sexton Doubles Through Rainer Kempe

$3,500 WPT Showdown Championship
Level 12: 800/1,600 with a 200 ante
Players Remaining: 378 of 1,207

Mike Sexton

Mike Sexton needed to do some work at the start of Day 2 and is moving in the right direction.

Super High Roller third-place finisher Rainer Kempe opened to 3,400 from under the gun and Sexton moved all-in for 21,100. The rest of the table released and Sexton was ahead in a race to stay in the game.

Kempe: AdQc
Sexton: 9s9h

The Th8h7h flop took away some out from Kempe and the board completed with the 6s turn and Kd river to send Sexton the double.

Sexton is having a nice year, especially in World Poker Tour events. He’s usually seen and heard commentating on the WPT final tables but the Poker Hall of Famer had to take a few days off when he won their Montreal event followed by a final table appearance in the LAPC Main Event. Sexton is also in contention for the WPT Player of the Year race, currently sitting in third place with a chance to jump up.

Mike Sexton – 46,400 (29 bb)
Rainer Kempe – 53,000 (33 bb)
