2023 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, Florida Event 22 $400 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw (Re-Entry) Entries: 97 Prize Pool: $38,800 April 20, 2023
Thursday saw the first deuce-to-seven triple draw tournament in a major Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood series, and it was a big success for the format, attracting 97 entries. Odds are this won’t be the last time we see it offered in one of our major tournament series.
At the end of the night, it was Danny Chang defeating Aaron Kupin heads up for the title, the trophy, and the top prize of $9,615.
“I got pretty fortunate,” said Chang. “I ran up a stack, and bullied the guys that had more chips, and chilled with the guys that didn’t have chips. Just tried not to get too crazy.”
“I’ve played enough of it,” said Chang about the deuce-to-seven format. “I’ve played it a lot in mixed games, but never really played it by itself. But I do like the game. It’s very fun.”
Chang seems to love most poker variations, and appreciates that Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood offers a lot of options.
“I like all the mixed game tournaments,” said Chang. “That’s what I’m here for. I like every single non-hold’em tournament.”
But what about the Championship event, which is obviously no-limit hold’em? Will Chang be taking a shot at the prizepool guaranteed to be worth at least $3 million?
“It depends on how well I feel I’m playing poker in general,” said Chang. “If I’m playing well, I’m going to play it, but if not, I’ll just go home and not be too stressed about it.”
