Event 23: Ronit Chamani Takes a Penalty But Survives Against Aces; Phil Hui Collects Another Bounty

$1,650 Purple Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure | Payouts
Level 11: 800/1,600 with a 1,600 ante
Players Remaining: 26 of 115

There was some confusion at Table 16, with some raises and reraises leading Ronit Chamani to think it was an all-in situation, so she called and flipped over her AhKc. Thinking Chamani was all in, Chad Trentacosta turned over his hand as well, showing AsAc.

When they realized that nobody was actually all in (the last raise was to 31,600, and Chamani still had 16,000 behind), a floorperson was called over for a ruling.

It was ruled that neither player was all in, so for revealing her cards with action pending, Chamani would receive a one-round penalty after the hand. But she would still keep the 16,000 in her stack to see the flop. Trentacosta declared that he was all in dark before the flop.

The flop came 4d3h2h, giving both players a gutshot straight draw, and Chamani a backdoor flush draw. But Chamani quickly folded, forfeiting the pot to Trentacosta, adding to his chipleading stack.

Chamani finished the hand with 16,000 in chips and a one-round penalty.

Chad Trentacosta  –  270,000  (169 bb)
Ronit Chamani  –  16,000  (10 bb)

At another table, with the board showing Ks9d8d3s, a player in middle position gets it all in with KdQh (pair of kings) against Phil Hui’s 3h3c (set of threes) in the big blind.

The short-stacked player is drawing dead, and the meaningless river card pairs the board with the Kc. Hui wins the pot with a full house, threes full of kings, to eliminate his opponent and collect another bounty.

Phil Hui  –  183,000  (114 bb) + $500 Bounty

With 26 players remaining, the average chip stack is about 88,500 (55 big blinds).

After a flop of 10d7c6h, Scott Efron was all in with 8d8c (pair of eights, gutshot straight draw), but he needed to improve to stay alive against Ronit Chamani’s KhKd.

The turn card was the Jh, the river was the Qd, and the pocket kings held up for Chamani to win the pot and eliminate Efron from the tournament, claiming the $500 bounty.

Ronit Chamani  –  145,000  (145 bb) + $500 Bounty
Scott Efron  –  Eliminated

The board came Ad2d2c10c6s — Turner turned a gutshot straight draw, but improved no further. Hui won the entire pot with his pocket fours to eliminate both players and collect two bounties in the same hand.
