Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood Property Update

Preparations are underway for the development of an iconic hotel tower and resort:

Parking – Poker players are encouraged to park in Winner’s Way Garage to access both the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown tournament space and The Poker Room

The Poker Room – Players may access the poker room by entering through the main lobby or via the exterior entrance on the opposite end of Winner’s Way Garage.

Inside hotel – Services and amenities inside the hotel will remain open along with regularly scheduled events and entertainment.

Francis Margaglione won the 28th and final event of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Tuesday in Hollywood, FL. The victory came at the hands of a 137-entry, $250 Deep Stack Turbo one-day tournament and earned Margaglione $7,000 following a four-way chop.

Margaglione is 53-year-old a real-estate investor from nearby Davie. His resume boasts over $120,000 in earnings, much of which came over the course of his three Seminole Hard Rock Poker victories.

Event 28 wrapped three-week SHRPO series that was headlined by the return of The Big 4, a four-tournament finale nominated for Innovation of the Year at the 2016 GPI American Poker Awards.

Event 28: Scott Clements Dominates to Win PLO Title

One of the last tournaments on the 2016 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown schedule, and the last non-Hold’em event, drew a group of talented poker players for the $2,200 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha tournament. A total of 79 entrants came out but it was WSOP bracelet winner Scott Clements outlasting them all for the title and $47,400.

Some of the best PLO players came out for the big buy-in tournament and it was a stacked final table that returned for Day 2. Scott Clements was running up his stack in the latter portions of the opening day and came back with nearly half of the chips in play, with the other half divided between eight players.

One of Clements two WSOP bracelets came during a PLO tournament but he had to deal with the second tallest stack, Chance Kornuth, who also holds a bracelet in the game. The most recent member of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Team had a good chance to catch Clements but fell victim to a big wrap draw to go out in 6th place. Well short of what he expected.

Clements continued to dominate play after the return and never gave up his lead while players continued to drop around him. Charbel Azzi went out in third place and Clements made quick work of the heads-up match to send Petko Tsakov to the payout desk for a runner-up cash.

Clements continues to prove himself as one of the top players in the game. Besides his two WSOP bracelets, he’s also has a WPT title and WSOP Circuit ring winner. He can now add Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown champion to his list of accomplishments.

Event 28: Petko Tsakov – 2nd Place ($33,180)

Petko Tsakov was looking at a 4-to-1 chip deficit against one of the best Omaha players in the world and it ended as expected. He was able to hang on for 20 minutes of heads-up play before Clements got the best of him.

They were looking at the flop when Tsakov put in his last two barrels of 5K chips. Clements called and the tournament was on the line.

Tsakov was technically ahead but more than half the deck was in Clements’ favor. He improved to two pair on the turn and Tsakov couldn’t find one of his 15 stay-alive outs on the river.

The hand sent Tsakov out in the runner-up position while Clements won the pot, the tournament, and the new Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown trophy.

Scott Clements was moving away from the other two players when Charbel Azzi went heads-up with him to the flop. Azzi got all his chips in the middle and it wasn’t looking too good.

Luis Calvo was the next short stack to take a stab but it wasn’t Scott Clements doing the heavy-lifting this time. Charbel Azzi had Calvo at risk after the flop.

Eric Penner was eliminated on one of the few hands this final table that didn’t get the chips in early. He was heads-up with Scott Clements and things were steady with the board reading when Penner moved all-in. Clements quickly called and Penner saw he was down to two outs.

The river was a blank and Penner was sent out in 5th place while Clements moved over 1 million.

The biggest pot of the tournament happened when the two biggest stacks went at each other. Scott Clements, Chance Kornuth, and Charbel Azzi went to the flop when things went huge.

Clements led out for 60,000 and Kornuth announced “pot” for 348,000. Azzi moved out of the way and Clements thought things out for a few minutes. With ~75,00 sitting behind Kornuth, Clements put him all-in and got a call.
