Cavallin: JcJs
Moreno: KdQd

What started out as a race practically finished on the flop with Cavallin’s overpair dominated by Moreno’s flopped flush. Cavallin needed a miracle boat but the 7h turn left him drawing dead to 42nd place after the stacks were counted down.

David Moreno – 285,000 (36 bb)
Timothy Cavallin – Eliminated in 42nd place ($1,393)

Brett Bader

After the bubble burst, the pace picked back up in Event 6 and the short stacks hit the payout desk. While that was happening, Brett Bader made a big move towards the chip lead.

He had WPT Championship Club member Tony Ruberto all in and at risk for 63,000. Bader’s 5h5d dominated Ruberto’s Kd2d and the run out sent those chips for the former SHRP champ to push his stack over 700,000.

Shortly before that, Wally Maddah and Jeffrey Fogel battled again. This time they were heads up to the Qs6d3c flop and Fogel put Maddah all in. After talking it out, Maddah called for his final 46,000 with Qd8d and was ahead of Fogel’s TcTd. The 7c turn and 5s river were good enough to switch pots between the two players once again.

Brett Bader – 710,000 (89 bb)
Wally Maddah – 125,000 (16 bb)
Jeffrey Fogel – 120,000 (15 bb)

Event 6: Karim Baruque Puts Them in the Money

Level 18: 3,000/6,000 with a 1,000 ante
Players Remaining: 63 of 633

Unlike the previous action of Day 2, Event took their time making it into the money. It took them 12 hands to finally go from 64 players to 63.

During that time there were five double up including starting Day 2 leader Jeffrey Fogel. He did not fare well over the first few levels but managed a double up through Wally Maddah with AhAd versus AcKc.

The 12th and final hand saw big stack Karim Baruque call an all in for 42,000 and both had to wait until all other hands were complete. After the other tables wrapped up, they tabled their hands and it looked like another double.

Baruque: As4s
Opponent: KdKc

The short-stacked player was in great position for the double and faded the ace on the 6c5s3h board. Baruque flopped an open-ended straight draw and turned a flush draw when it came Qs. Baruque had 18 river outs and hit the Js to take the pot and put Event 6 in the money.

Karim Baruque – 520,000 (87 bb)

Steven Bennett

The pace has been much quicker than anticipated today and Event 6 is on the verge of hitting the money with 70 players remaining and 63 getting paid.

Steven Bennett helped drop it a little lower while building up his stack. He had the button all in for 53,000 from the small blind with another big hand.

Bennett: KcKh
Button: Qh8h

Bennett had the dominant hand but few things are easy and the Ts3h2h flop gave him some heart sweats. The 6c turn was a blank and the 7c river sent the field one player lower while moving Bennett up to 320,000.

Steven Bennett – 320,000 (64 bb)

Neil Blumenfield opened to 12,000 from early position and his opponent in the cutoff moved all in for 72,000. The button and blinds released and Blumenfield called with a monster.

Blumenfield: KcKh
Opponent: ThTs

A tough spot for the cutoff and it only got worse on the Ks8h4c flop. Blumenfield had to dodge perfect/perfect tens and the 7h turn sent him the pot.

Neil Blumenfield – 220,000 (44 bb)

Moreno’s two overcards gave him a chance to double but he missed the entire KhQc9d5hQs board to exit short of the money.

Rafael Reis – 150,000 (38 bb)
Steve Moreno – Eliminated
