Event 8: Villacci Doubles Through Vayman

$350 8-Handed Big Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 18: Blinds 2,500/5,000/500 ante

Joe Villacci took a nice chunk out of Oleg Vayman’s lead in a big post-flop hand.

Villacci opened to 12,500 from late position and Vayman three-bet to 38,000 from the button. Action folded back around the Villacci and he put out a call after some thought.

Villacci then instantly shoved for 107,500 as soon as the dealer spread the Qd5s3d flop to get Vayman talking to himself and Villacci. Vayman was convinced Villacci was holding AQ but grudgingly called the bet. He was close in his read, Villacci tabled KcQc for top pair against Vayman’s second pair As5c.

The 7s turn and 2d locked up the double for Villacci.

Event 8: Paul Girard – 10th Place ($810)

$350 8-Handed Big Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 17: Blinds 2,000/4,000/500 ante

Shortly after Friedburg’s exit, Paul Girard found the perfect spot to get a double. He was all-in with AhAc against Igor Skochko’s 8c7h.

Skochko’s attempt to crack Aces started well with the 8d6d2d flop, missed the 3d turn, but spike the 7s river for the win. A tough way to get knocked out but Girard picked up $810 for his 10th place finish.

The tournament clock is paused as staff redraw for the final table.

Event 8: Darren Friedburg – 11th ($810)

$350 8-Handed Big Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 17: Blinds 2,000/4,000/500 ante

Event 8 is now down to the final table bubble when former leader Darren Friedburg couldn’t win a race against the current leader.

Friedburg opened to 8,000 and Oleg Vayman three-bet to 32,000. Frank Lerczak thought about coming along in the small blind but let his hand go. Friedburg four-bet shoved for 226,000 total and Vayman called after getting the count.

Friedburg had two overs with AcKh against JhJd but missed the TcTh2h flop. The 6d[turn][and][Td river left Friedburg empty-stacked and out in 11th place for $810.

Event 8: Racing Tournaments

$350 Eight Handed Big Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 15: Blinds 1,200/2,400/400

Event 7 is  a multi-day affair while Event 8 is just a nicely priced one day tournament but both seem to be coming down to the wire at the same time.

Both tournaments reached two tables at the same time with slightly different stack sizes. This eight-handed event dropped to 16 players midway through level 15 and staff did a complete redraw just as the players were heading off on break.

Seats and counts when they return.

Event 8: In the Money

$350 Eight Handed Big Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 13: Blinds 800/1,600/200

It took longer than anticipated but Event 8 is now in the money. It took 20 minutes of Level 13 before one player was at risk.

As is sometimes the case, the unfortunate bubble boy wished to remain under the radar but it was Cliff Gladstone doing the heavy lifting for the rest. His AcTd was ahead of KcJc before the AdQc6s gave him top pair. His opponent was stuck with a gutshot draw which missed on the Qd turn and 4c river.

Staff is in the process of a three-table redraw and we will start looking for the big payouts.

1: $9,881
2: $5,670
3: $4,212
4: $3,078
5: $2,430
6: $1,802
7: $1,418

13-16: $668
17-24: $628

Event 8: Dinner Break II

$350 Eight Handed Big Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 12: Blinds 600/1,200/200

Double dinner break as Event 8 takes of on a 40-minute dinner break at the same time as Event 7. That leaves a very quiet ballroom with just a few tables occupied by a qualifier and secondary tournaments.

There are still 26 players remaining and they’ll run through the bubble when they return. Darren Friedburg has the clear lead among those remaining with 200,300. Carlos Loving and Nigel Murray are also in the running for the Event 8 title.

Players return at 7:15pm and playing down to a winner.

Event 8: Nearing the Bubble

$350 Eight Handed Big Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 12: Blinds 600/1,200/200

Event 8 is a nice, mid-week tournament with an Eight-handed format and deep structure. The one-day tournament drew 135 entrants to easily surpass the $30,000 guarantee but they are playing it fast and loose.

They are nearing the end of Level 12 and just 27 of those starters remain with 24 making the money.
