Mike Dentale had a fast start to his opening flight and bagged up 234,000 for today. The heater continues and we found the east coast grinder with over 750,000 in his stack after 90-minutes of play. That should be good enough for a healthy lead as we continue to track the pre-bubble crowd.
Staying with the east coast theme, WPT World Champion Asher Conniff is also off to a nice start. He returned with 177,000 but more than doubled it before the first break.

There’s a quick parade to the rail and less than 400 of the returning 567 are still around with a shot at the title.
Seminole Hard Rock Poker regular Zoltan Czinkota is making a move towards the top of the counts over coming into Day 2 slightly under the chip average. He recently sent another out and was happy to do it with ten-high.
Czinkota had his opponent dominated with against when the chips went in and the was clean for the knockout.
Czinkota is a two-time Seminole Hard Rock Poker champion and a third will look pretty nice in the bank account.

With the huge turnout for Event 9, the restart was expanded outside of the ballroom with some returning to play in the meeting room across the hall. This intimate space is usually reserved for the big high roller events and special tournaments but was put into use today.
They will be the first tables to break and soon the entire field will be in the ballroom. The Event 9 restart and big Event 11 field have combined to utilize every table in the ballroom.

There’s never really a bad time to pick up kings, but Scott Kateian found them on the first hand of the restart. When he was under the gun.
Making it even better for Kateian was seeing a short-stacked Marc Gardner three-bet with his queens. The chips went in the middle and Kateian locked down the hand on the king-high flop.
Marc Gardner – Eliminated Scott Kateian – 120,000 (40 bb)

Play is underway for the Event 2 restart with Joshua Hood leading the 567-player field.
We expect a quick run of eliminations at the start that will slow as the approach the next break and the money bubble. A number of dealers already called out “seat open” in the first few hands to get things moving.

Event 9 started with a $1 million guaranteed prize pool but that number never stood a chance. We hit the guarantee early in the fifth starting flight, then they piled nearly $500,000 on top of it. The tournament drew 2,923 entrants to create a prize pool worth $1,461,500 and set aside more than $250,000 for the winner.
There are 567 players still alive with a chance to make the money but only 250 of them will take home a piece. Joshua Hood returns as the chip leader but there are plenty of great players trying to chase him down.
Other survivors include WPT World Champion Asher Conniff, reigning Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year Ory Hen, 2007 WSOP Main Event Champion Jerry Yang, and two of the Mizrachi brothers (Rob and The Grinder).
Bags are on the tables, dealers are standing by, and players are beginning to find their seats. Action will be underway shortly and we’ll start looking for our next big champion.

A player in middle position moved all in for about 35,000 and Robert Mizrachi moved all in for about 70,000 from the hijack. Everybody else got out of the way and the cards were turned on their backs.
Mizrachi showed and had his opponent’s dominated. The board ran out and Mizrachi’s kings hold up to give him the pot and moves over the 100,000 chip mark with about 10 minutes left before the clock is paused and the staff draws for the number of hands left in the day.
