Event 9: Is It The Turtle?

$570 Deeper Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 10:  Blinds 500/1000/100 ante

Whether it’s not-so poker-optimal lollipop flavors, inane leveling debates and hand breakdowns or just plain fun, Svi Soudai is leading the charge on Table 58 as the most talkative in the room.

Soudai is not alone is his hijinx.  He brought along his handy-dandy miniature card protector, Slowsky the Turtle, to keep him company on his conversational and poker journey here in Flight 9D.

Event 9: And I Will Strike Down Upon Thee With Great Vengeance….

$570 Deeper Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 8:  Blinds 300/600/75 ante

As we close in the break, a few chips stacks are starting emerge out of the pack.  David Hixson, Daniel Vranich, Charles Chan, Manny Julve all are making strides toward advancing to Day 2.

The most interesting one is Robert Midgette who appears to be the flight’s current chip leaded despite being slightly distracted.  Headphones and iPad on the rail, the dealer at one point had to work pretty hard to get Midgette’s attention.

The reason?  He was engrossed in watching the cult classic movie “Pulp Fiction”.

Vincent and Jules would be incredibly proud.  Someone get that man a Royale with cheese, please.

Event 9: Blinds Up!

$570 Deeper Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 8:  Blinds 300/600/75 ante

The players in Flight 9D have now hit Level 8.  This is the final level of play before registration closes at the conclusion of the upcoming break.

It’s been holding steady around 16-17 tables in play and current entries stand at 180.  We’ll see where things end for Flight 9D registration in around an hour.

Event 9: Beard Me

$570 Deeper Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 7:  Blinds 250/500/50 ante

Letting those beards grow out has become a trend across the country and the field here in Flight 9D is no exception.  Michael Gonzalez and Daniel Vranich are going big sporting the best facial hair in the house tonight.  Which one of them wins the heads-up beard battle?  You be the judge but either way we hope their stacks grow as tall as their beards are long.

Event 9: Singh Leads Early

$570 Deeper Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 5:  Blinds 150/300/25 ante

Raminder Singh (Delray Beach FL) got the most out of his first four levels to take an early lead in Flight D. There are also a few more players who have more than doubled their 25,000 and are looking good at the start.

Raminder Singh – 78,425
Julio Comparelli – 67,450
Walter Bravo – 66,375
Abbey Daniels – 64,475
Glen Cressman – 64,450
Ariel Rosello – 59,225

Event 9: World Champion in Flight D

$570 Deeper Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 4:  Blinds 100/200

The fourth starting flight of the the $500,000 guarantee Event 9 is filling up and closing in on 140 entrants as they enter Level 4.

Among the starting crowd is 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Jamie Gold. This is the first we’ve seen of Gold this series but not the last.

Also mixing in up in D are Jake Bazeley, Raminder Singh, Andrew Graham, Nigel Murray, Dani Dayan, Danielle Howe, and Glen Cressman.

One more level and they will take their first break.

Event 9: Mosley Closes 9C with Lead

$570 Deeper Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 14:  Blinds 1,200/2,400/300 ante

We’ve become accustomed to late level craziness but Flight C was a calm affair compared to recent days. There were 45 players left at the end of Level 14 and it was a race between Dominique Mosley (Miami, FL) and Jonathan Gold for the top of the day’s counts.

Mosley caught Gold late to bag 250,000 versus Gold’s 230,000. He’s looking to add to an already impressive résumé. Mosley has just 16 results but they add up to over $200,000 in career earnings including $80,000 for a runner-up finish here during the May Deep Stack tournament.

These players will join 74 who survived A and B on Sunday at 1pm to play down to a champion.
